What would be the gains of one vs. the other? How good is the factory header? It seems HMF and FMF are the only two that make headers, anyone else?

On most street bikes, the difference between slip-ons and full systems is around 7-9 hp, not including the rediculous claims that some pipe makers say. So on a quad, single cylinder and mostly a straight running pipe, I would say around 3-5 hp gain. These numbers are only based on my experiences with many years of street bike modifying and stuff. The problem I have found is that the FMF header will only work with thier cans, due to collector sizing.

I read your threads about that. But I also read that the FMF muffler will fit on the stock header. Wouldn't they have to be the same size?

The FMF Muffler comes with a bushing to use with the stock header, The FMF is 1 1/2"

If I was spending someone elses money I would go with the FMF Titanium.

Fo sho.

1. It's lighter.

2. It always looks better.

Awe c'mon it's *only* $250 more than a slip on . (eBay)

Of course then you have to get a fuel injection programmer.

So $750 later... 2 weeks after I spent 8000 on a new quad..

I thought about the titanium but didn't see the extra dough being worth what you get. How loud is it compared to the others or you can get any style in titanium?

I just got my HMF Ballance QRS (slip on only), along with the HMF/Dobeck optimizer and a Velocity filter. It's been cold as hell since last weekend, so I haven't had a chance to get them on yet.

I purchased the fmf titanium 4.1 factory pipe with power bomb header, also power commander 3 and mod quad air flow system w/k&n and outer wear. I paid from fmf $679.00 for full exhaust and power commander i paid $349 can't remember what i paid for the mod quad but i think it was around $120 and i have been extremely pleased with the parts and performance has been incredible mostly on top end but down low too. If you have the cash i say go for it, but i think that any of the pipes and efi programmers are gonna make it much better than stock. However i would not get the quite core insert for the pipe, i did and it choked it up almost as bad as stock, once removed WOW what a diff, but considerably louder but i've heard alot worse.

Hope this helps out! good luck

dood i shoot blue flames out mine ... looks like one of those jet lighters ... really kick ass at night time. Definitely no sneaking up on anyone though. 4.1 is LOUD haha.... but it sure sounds good riding on it.
