Just ordered the new sway bar!! Wondering what everyone's preload is set at? When I first got the xx it was all the way soft and had way too much body roll, so i ended up stiffining all the way.. but it obviously rides hard. I weight 190 and was wondering with this new sway bar if i could soften it up any.. anyway super excited about getting the new bar and appreciate all input!!

I was running two threads from full soft before the sway bar and now I'm at full soft. It feels about the same stiffness but handles and turns way better. I would start off keeping the preload where you have it now to see if you like it. I'm 140lbs by the way.

I weigh 160lbs. and I have mine turned in a couple threads. I did this prior to the sway bar and just left it. My quad handles like its on rails and is still way softer than a raptor in the trails. Just awesome!

Yes this is true. I am in the process of building a 9/16" variant that will be just larger than the OEM bar and smaller than the 11/16" one I currently offer. This should help out with the riders that want one in the middle. They will be ready to sell in about 6 weeks time. I will post the information here when they are ready. Feel free to PM me if you would like me to PM you when they are.

Thanks!!

Ziggy,

Sway bars transfer motion from one wheel to the other this transfer helps with steering and body roll. The stiffer the sway bar the more diminished the independent suspension affect. If you ride really rough trails and you really want a cooshy ride with bad steering then you want the OEM bar. If you ride rough trails and want to turn then you might want the 9/16" bar. If you ride on flat tracks and rough trails and are not bothered by diminished differential suspension flex (=cooshy ride) Then you will want the 11/16" bar. I hope this helps.

I will make a more professional explanation page on the site soon.

There were enough people interested in an "in between bar" one that gave you more steering control but allowed more differential flex between the two rear wheels. The 11/16" bar allows for this flex but is significantly stiffer than the OEM bar that gives you an almost SRA (solid rear axle) feel to the ride.

Hey question....

Has anyone fitted this sway bar up with the Houser Rear A-Arms? I ask because the Sonic sway bar did not fit...the angles it put on the Small Rod ends would have snapped them.

And if i just flipped the Rod ends on the other side (out side) like you would with the stocker....does it hit the rear shock?

BiFfMaN

Yah because the Sonic Bar Broke this weekend...those Aluminum arms did not handle the extra stress from me riding faster and hitting larger whoops.

The L8ton sway bar is in the same location as stock, just a diameter. I would imagine that the L8ton sway bar would work with the rear a-arms as long as the stock does.

I agree as long as your overall travel has not changed it should work just fine. However without seeing your geometry its hard to say without trying it. There is another rider who is running this bar with aftermarket shocks in REALLY rough country and is having problems with the links holding up. I am working hard to make some aftermarket HD replacements.

How much did the angle change on the Housers? Don't want to make the same mistake if I ever change a-arms.

well the Houser Rear A-arms mounting location is about half a inch out farther then stock. With a stock sway bar...you would just simply put the link on the outside of the sway.

With the sonic sway its hard to do that with its counter-sunk holes, Plus simply moving the arms out made them hit the shocks. SO.....i had to make a compromise. move arm out and trim.

as you can see in picture.

BiFfMaN
09-19-2010, 08:10 PM
And No it did not break where i trimmed....it broke where the arm and Bar meet.

And its not a Attack on Sonic....i am sure the bar worked fine for stock rear a-arm guys.

I would like to know if my bar would work with those arms. A simple test would show. If you could take off the springs in the back with everything else connected and exercised the suspension up and down and looked for any "binding in the links" I would be willing to let you try it out? (full refund...) Let me know if your interested.

Hey Kyle,

Sorry for the long delay, It has Been a rough few weeks. My best friend and riding buddy was Murdered two weeks ago on the day we were to go riding and test out the sway bar on my Houser Arms. The killer was his wifes Lover that he had recently found out about. He will be missed by all his friends and his 5 year old son Aaron.

After all that i had to Deploy to Afghanistan again...so will not be home for another 3 more months. It was a planned trip and its rough after losing a friend.

But fitment was good, it was a little close to the shock spring. Did compression and extension tests and did not strike. All that is left is test ride.

There is absolutely no rush on the test, take care of what is really important first!

I recently bought and installed one of these on my race bike. I race GP's (Hare Scrambles for you East-siders!) and my first race was with the stock sway bar. I'm used to solid axle bikes so to say that it pushed harder than a woman in labor would be an understatement, and it was lifting the inner front wheel a ton too.

For my second race I installed an 11/16" sway bar and what a difference! I had put on some 1.5" wheel spacers front and rear as well and have subsequently removed them as I don't think they will be necessary for stability and I could use the smaller track width and reduced bump steer anyway. Granted, I'm going through terribly rough sections already, but I really didn't notice a huge difference in suspension performance after the mod although I do have Fox shocks (which I had on with the stock sway bar as well).

Good price and an easy install also. After only two rides/races my times are pretty much the same compared to when I rode an LTR-450.

Thanks Kyle.

Hey guys and gals,

I received my 1/16" Sway Bar last week (great 2 day shipping time!). I recently bought my 700XX (Phucknutz's 700, with every mod you can think of) and am coming from a 400EX (Jetted and piped). I was surprised Phucknutz hadn't already done this mod? Coming from a SA I didn't like how the front tire would lift while turning and how it pushed.

I put the sway bar on before my first trail ride and am glad I did. I went to Carolina Adventure World which has a lot of tight trails through the woods. I think if I hadn't done this mod I would've been pretty frustrated in some of the titer trails. The turning radius is improved significantly as well the pushing. As for suspension travel, my buddy was riding my old 400EX and every time I would look back at him he being thrown all over the place while I was just riding along with less than half jerking around! BTW, I have stage 4 Elka's on the 700XX. I am really satisfied with this mod!
