Damn, that is pricey. I hope Rocky Mountain stocks them a bit cheaper than that.

Cool, Wonder who else will have them. That particular dealer ships?

I don't know if they ship. 973-839-1117. Their arrogance is matched only by their mark-ups! E.g., remove a tire patch and reinstall, 40 bucks.

I avoid them whenever possible...

anything ive ever purchased from pompton honda was 20% under retail ..they do ship.

They said retail 150 so 16 percent off. I have 2 other shops just as close, but I often drive right past pompton. Why do you choose them>

id give it some thought. one of my dirtbike friends which races on ice is trying to talk me into trying it out ... which means using ice screws in the tires....

to be honest ... im not sure i want to completely ruin a set of tires ... i dont take them off and reverse them ... so one side of the tread is perfectly fine ..just the other is worn down.

i think 50 bucks for the pair ... and an oil filter would be fair ... so like what ...60 bucks .. plus freight... which would be less than 20 dollars ups.

no tears ... no slits ... when i get my 2 rear sets ill take these off obviously and you can judge for yourself.

of course i keep the fronts on as they last a long long long time.

lastly ... im not sure how many razr 11" were produced ..id like to think there are plenty ..but im not taking any chances which is why im waiting till i get my 2 sets first.

Don't forget I had first dibs on them, I even got 6 filters at the house

Hopefully I will have an idea this weekend, but most rocks are now nicely covered by a layer of snow on our trails. Do any of you expect any difference between these tires' puncture resisitance relative to the Holeshot XCTs? Both 6-ply and similar tread pattern, but I have never run anything Maxxis before.

maxxis says they will see how the razrs sell and do have tentative plans to make their popular tires in our sizes ... so whatever that means

I ordered a set too. Should make it to TN by Friday. I reaaly wish they had made these in the RAZR II's though, We ride in some rough areas (lots of rocks, roots and sapling stobs) and flats are a very common occurence. Looks like I might have to invest in some of those Tire Johnnys too until they make a 6 ply tire

I was under the impression that the Razr in that size was a 6-ply.

smo0oth1
01-14-2009, 08:50 AM
This particular size is 6 ply but there is a 4 ply option on other sizes

well ... i hammer my tires in some of the sharpest boulders there are ... those large mined flint type ones ... even have banged up against many tree stumps at high speeds ... no slits ... no cuts ... even the minor scrapes buff out easily. Maxxis is known for strong tires ..

I've decided I will GIVE a set of NEW rear razrs to a fellow member who pruchases a rear roll bar from sonic for a 700xx... Post a picture of it installed. a few basic rules though to keep out the trolls ...

rear end must be dirty ... ya know like mud on the tires/wheels/sonic-roll bar

photo must have something with a current date on it somewhere ... a simple "forum member name / date" written on a piece of paper in the photo is fine ...

member must have at least 25 posts.

member must promise NOT to sell the tires and NOT to sell or return the roll bar (i bought the tires at full price $125 each) so i could just as well have not purchased them or returned them myself for a full refund ...

lastly .. i am not in "cahoots" with sonic racing... they do not sponsor me ... Andrew is simply a nice guy ... knowledgeable ... will answer any of our questions ... and his products are definitely top notch (ive done my research on him from other BIG NAME retailers ... riders ... ect).

I think this is what it takes to get real support started for good products ..especially for the manufacturers who are willing to listen ..and even make what we desire.

basically ... the FIRST person to post a photo with the rear roll bar on a 700xx in these forums with at least 25 posts ...

i challenge someone else to step up and support a manufacturer that they feel is superior in their own way as well.

no takers huh.. basically a 200 investment in a rear rollbar

I have 6 Maxxis rears with 3/4 tread left on them. They have minor puctures that can be plugged or they can be run with a tube or Tireballs. $40 tire and must buy all 6 as a package.

You have any other shops in mind or just Sonic? Me and I'm sure allot more can't justify spending the money on roll bars at the near stock levels most or at.

oh... shit man .. pompton honda has them in stock ... or did .. 125 each and about 5 dollars shipping or something.

973-839-1117 ask for Howie in parts tell him Adam from st.L referred you ...on this website.

they have them IN STORE ... or at least did... so no drop shipping ...they also have some pretty sweet prices on thos flexx bars or whatever they are ...asv lever packages... shocks ...ect.

i would have bought my tires locally ..but the guy that owns the shop is too arrogant to look past the same old catalog pages and simply call maxxis or wherever to get them.

sonic isnt a shop ... he is a custom fabricator with a huge background in suspension .. 2 brothers run a fab shop with most every piece of equipment available at their disposal ... cnc, benders, CAD laser cutters, presses...and the guy will make anything we want just as long as he can sell at least 4 or 5 of them ...

the biggest complaint of the xx is it pushes turns ... and andrew at sonic SWEARS this rollbar absolutely solves it... so one could spend 3grand on a front end and still push ..or spend 450 and get a brand new set of rear razrs and a rollbar... when the pair of tires will wet you back 250 plus freight ... thats a significant bargain.

Speaking with him about the rear a-arms i asked if he could make a billet aluminum airbox for the machine ... he said sure ... skid plates for the rear a-arms ..sure he said... if you can think of it im sure he could machine it ... hpfreeks turbo project ..i bet sonic could make a header for it... just saying ... the guy is really WILLING to make stuff with his own hands on his own equipment.

he also seems to have a good working relationship with custom axis shocks/penske ...they make custom stuff for his irs conversions and buggies.

i took the rear roll bar off my machine and actually noticed zero effect ... cannot wait for the sonic one to get here so i can indeed confim its worth it...

when i give it a try and give my positive (or negative) feedback ill let you know .... i ride woods and trails ..and sandflats ... so anyway... hopefully it solves the pushing ... and will be much less expensive for everyone to enjoy the added benefit of technical turning at low speed along with the irs on our beloved 700xx!

if you want some new ones you can paypal me for them ...im happy to ups them to you man... youre responsible for any custom charges though.... you just pay me what i paid for them ... i think with freight they cost me about 130 bucks each roughly ... so i guess a pair is lets say 255 plus freight...

i am positive pompton honda takes paypal because they occasionally sell stuff on ebay... call howie there and ask to be sure...

no problem at all ... the maxxis razr rears are worth it ... and ive been waiting and waiting and waiting just like you ... so everyone else can start to experience what a HUGE difference they make ... youll be glad you didnt sell yourself short with 10" wheels.... i promise ;)

just let me know what you come up with.... so you know Howie did say he would sell them to you via paypal .. and you'd be responsible for the custom fees ..and the paypal fees too....and he has sold out of the tires in stock 3 times now ... I would imagine they are going fast ..as I cant find them anywhere else ..and even Maxxis doesnt know for sure how many there are.
