I found this on another forum since it pertains to our bikes I copied it.
seems like common since but it gives a nice walkthrough on how to change it

Thanks. I was just looking through the service manual to see where the fuel filter is located and found your post.
Do you feel that a small inline fuel filter will work and maybe avoid some problems with this one? It is so easy to get fuel into your 5 gallon fuel can when in the dunes and have it end up being poured into the Honda tank. I have run one on all of my other machines but they have not been fuel injected. I can't see that it would hurt anything. Thanks

I ordered and am using an inline filter prior of going into the fuel pump and it's working fine, haven't taken the pump apart this year yet but am pretty sure that it will be cleaner than last year. Bought the inline thru Rocky Mountain.

Can you describe about where you installed the inline filter? Did you take the tank off in order to get to it? Thanks
