So i was going to add my quads (700xx and 250ex both 08') to my policy with Farmers. After 3 months of ownership - I realized they were never added. GF calls the insurance company to ask about putting my new truck on and they said "oh thanks for calling back, we needed more info on adding your quads to your policy" - she flipped her lid on them.

So now i'm insurance shopping - Farmers wanted about $1100 for both quads for 6 months. I pretty much told them :birds:

So i called progressive - they wanted $424 for both for 12 months. Thats more reasonable.

What do you guys use? Do you even insure them? I just wanted theft on them to make sure i'm covered incase they ever were stolen, even though they stay in my garage and are strapped down to a locked trailer - they're pretty secure. :yay:

I can't tell you right of the top of my head how much I pay, but I have it through progressive. I got some money back by switching from an '04 sportbike to an '08 quad. In pa you are required liability at minimum to ride state trails.

I think its a good idea to have it regardless. In Texas I don't think its required. It hasn't been anywhere I've been so far.

I have mine with State Farm and it covers everything from me being stupid and crashing, theft, vandalism. etc. 100 deductable and its 324 a year

That's who I have both of my vehicles through. I'm going to call them tomorrow to get my 700xx added.

Also, be sure and check your homeowners policies to make sure that quads are covered in the event of a house fire. I've seen where it would cover cars or golf carts (WTF?) but not quads. I've even heard of one tha wouldn't cover the quad but would cover the aftermarket parts for it.

Most people don't find out where the gaps in coverage lie until after they need to use it.

Don't rely on your dealer to have any record of them selling you your quad. If it's stolen and somehow it turns up in order to claim it you will have to prove that it indeed is yours. The longer it takes you to find the information the longer it will be impounded....

Are you required to have it for all parks? I had emailed The Lost Trails ATV Park in Poconos and they said insurance is not required. The $35 admission covers insurance and registration for the day.

I have the quads and golf cart under my commercail policy which covers the race cars and trailers, and I think it's about $150 per quad.

Proof of that insurance must be carried with you when you ride. There are no minimum requirements or coverage standards established by DCNR or the Snowmobile/ATV Law for the liability insurance.

I read that before I email and asked the Lost Trails Park, and replied back that no insurance and registration is required. Anyway, it's always a good idea to have everything registered and insured to avoid problems.

here in Alberta, i pay $200 a year for million dollar liability and fire/theft. it just goes on my automobile policy.

I've always had insurance on my quads. I think that I pay about $18 a month for full coverage, including liability. I think it's crazy to spend $8 grand on a machine and not insure it!

I'm financing so I had to put insurance on it. I paid $2something through progressive. I use them for my motorcycle as well.:yay:
