Well, I live in Newark.
I have yet to pick mine up.
I had a 13t spocket added and a few other things.
I will be looking for others to ride with seeing how all of my friends now are to old to ride. I am only 46.
We need to set up a list of Ohio riders.
I plan on riding/camping mostly in Perry State Forrest and Wayne National Trail (Northernmost end).

Let me know,
Thanks

Im new here, and and from Columbus, Oh. I usally travel almost 200 miles to ride in W.Va. where I have family, free room and board. And unlimited FREE riding. So far I've been to Wayne, which is packed and way to many rules. I found a small place in Xenia, Oh. like 150 acres $15.00 and maybe like 24 other riders there. nice moto X and drag area, and some trails with "small hill climbs". I would like to know more about place in In. Haspin Acres. It looks nice and price is right includes camping and stuff! An I've also seen video of how packed rumble on the ridge is. And that looks like no fun to me. I ride alot in W.Va. like 5-7 hours we bump into like maybe a dozen other riders.

rich e rich73, the place where you ride sounds pretty cool. Me and my buddy ride all the time in the summer. He doesnt like to ride much in the winter. I told him to put down his purse, bundle up, and come ride. He's the one with the yamadonkey raptor 700...Wayne is ok, good to just go out and cruise around. Not many jumps, a couple mud pits, and very little hill climbing. (Referring to wayne outside of Oak Hill...telegraph i believe)

So I was thinking about going to Wayne this year. I know/ have herd, I need a state sicker, trail permit, and possible proof of insurance? So I have insurance allready. I take my title to BMV. And I'm told I need a plate not a sticker? I question this, and lady behind counter makes a call. She was told all I need was a sticker! Gets off phone voids my plate, and trys to issue just the atv sticker. System wont let her complete order. She calls someone else, and he tells her the same. Then like this goes on for 45mins, after I paid for plate. They concluded if title says "body type is AT" you need a plate! If it says body type OR then just a sticker is needed. Anyone else in Ohio, know about this? And wth do I mount my plate, now that I have one? All 3 of my titles say type AT even the little 50cc.

Tory trx

Not sure about that. I just walked in to the BMV and asked to register my bike handed them my title and they handed me a sticker thats good till 2013 and it cost me like $40.

Yea supposed to be a new law/rule she said. My tag is good till 2014. Still 3 years, and mine was $34.75 I wonder what they get for personal tags on atv's. I know autos are like $50 more per year. As far as mounting it, I think I can bolt it on the side of my 6pack rack. Im not sure if there is any rule/law as to where it's mounted?

Same here on the rain, it poured Saturday. And same here on riding buddy pussing out. Guy at work told me he goes to Wayne all the time. We plan trip, and then friday before, he ask me what he needs to get as far as a permit, & registration. So I just went for the day with my son. We hit a hudge mud bog about 200yds. long and 15 yards wide. I told him to flip his AWD on just in case. I go 1st, get half way into this, ridding right side tires in about 14" rutt and left sides maybe 10". Bogging down big time trying to hook left, to get out of deep rut, and just about when I thought I was going to be stuck. The Trx made a 90 degree right hand turn on its own and went to the far right side before it turned back left. My son on the Scrambler with Bear Claws EX tires was scooting threw with out spining a tire. Anyways I have some new Kutters, I dont think it will be long before I install them after Sunday.

Dont know how far you are from Wayne, but kids don't require a trail permit, if under age 16. As long as they ride along with you. Me and my son went on 4 rides. 1st one like 3 miles, then we went maybe 30 miles round trip. Got side track on way back, a few misturns. From New Straitsville trail head, around the loop, and down to Monday Creek and back, that is when we missed a turn. We crossed over Route 585, but did find a carryout and a gas station there. And then we did a few short runs around the New Straitsville loop trail supposed to be a most easiest trail, but had some sweet whoops in it. Nice 3rd gear jumps, was a lot of fun. Wayne was nice and it's close, but don't compare to the trails I ride in W.V. Which I will be tearing up this Easter weekend. I love climbing the mountains.

That would be alot of fun to ride. My son is only 9 so he wouldn't require the permit but I don't think he would be able to handle a ride like that but as for me it would be a blast. I think Wayne is about 2 or 3 hours from here but I have family pretty close to it so that wouldn't be an issue. Thanx for the info

It's hard to tell by your photo, what size is your sons ATV? Where I went they have a easy trail right off the main trail called the New Straitsville loop. I think it's like 2-3 miles around. There were kids there on 90cc atv, and small dirt bikes. I have a 8 year old too, that wants to go on his little 50. It would probly be okay on the loop. But to be honset it was cramping my style to ride his his big 15 yr. old brother. When we go to WV. I can leave them on the flat and go climbing hills, and just check back on them every now and again. Or round up my Uncles, and cousins and go for a good ride 4-6hrs, and leave kids with Grandma and Aunts keeping an eye on them. I know I'm a bad Dad but sometimes I like to go at my own pace, not theres.

Sorry about the photo being so small, I guess its because it was taken from my phone. My sons quad is a 90 and I know what you mean about goin at your own pace cause it is hard to run that slow on our XX's. He is just now learning to ride so the easier the better until he gets more comfortable. Anyway maybe a ride for the adults in the near future might be in order

Sounds good BuckeyeXX. Just let me know when your thinking about going, and I'll let you know if I can make it. Most weekends I can unless Im going to W.V. to ride. And sometimes I have to work last weekend of the month. Looks like about 2hrs for you to Nelsonville, Oh 108 miles or so, or 2.5 hrs and 130 miles to Hanging rock. Nelsonville has alot more trails 70+ miles. Be nice toget a few riders or more to meet up.

Sounds good. Yeah I went to the one on enon rd. Pretty nice place to ride and it is about 10 min from my house. I haven't been to yellowbuds yet but would like to check it out sometime. We definitely should set up a ride sometime soon I have most weekends off myself so anytime is good for me

Yellowbud, is a town near Xenia. You have to drive threw there, and let me know what you think. I'll just tell you I went trew there twice, and it was pretty much the same each time. It's like a blast from the past, almost like all of a sudden your driving threw a movie set. It's strange to say the least. Check it out some nice after noon.

As far as riding, if you want to ride @ wayne do you have your registration and trail permit? It's free camping there too on the trail heads. Im not really set up to good for camping. I know it's alonger ride for you so something to think about. I need to get guy from work, to get his reg, & permit, he has a camper. Anyway we could try around 5-14-11 what do you think?

BuckeyeXX
04-26-2011, 05:54 PM
I just realized that you are talking about yellow springs and I have passed through there a couple of times. Not sure about going to wayne that weekend because I dont have my reg. nor my trail permit plus with the price of gas right now it is hard to go that far away. Not tryin to be dumb about it but it is a major factor. I really do want to do some riding but going that far away is hard to do right now.

I know what you mean on the price of fuel. It cost me $50.00 2 weeks ago togo to Wayne. And thats only a like 125 mile round trip, and not counting fuel for quad. Last weekend it cost me $131.00 togo W.V. and back. And I think around $22.00 for the quads. And also spent aprox $200.00 more in march than feb. on fuel for just work, just plan sucks. hate to see how much more I spend this month.

Went to WNF Today, rain held out to 4pm. And then it turned loose. I got back to the trailer right before it cut loose. I was drenched time I straped the 700 on trailer and then I ran to outhouse to change clothes. One whale of a t-storm went thru there for about 25 mins or so, hail and everything. I haven't been to Wayne in about 8 years, back when I had my 300EX. I'd like to go back down there one of these days, but probably not till next year. You sound a bit busy, but at least you fit some riding time in!. If you get settlled down next session, let me know. I'd be happy to meet up and ride with you at WNF. I have only been a handfull of times this year. It's not marked well like Hanging Rock is, but I know the main corridor pretty good and have it marked on my GPS. I hope to mark around 25 miles or more of the southern trails tommorow. Theres over 70 miles of marked trails, and tons of off trail, trails. Easy riding for the most part but its a pretty nice place to bust the 700 loose! Good luck on the new house!

Had a great ride today, and weather was awesome! Ended up being a group of 6. Two on 800 Can Am Renegades, 1 on a yfx450, 1 on a ltz400, and This one dude had like a little 250 Ozark, lol. But he ran the piss out of it, and didn’t slow us down hardly at all. Mostly waiting on one of the 800 Renegades! And I was worried about keeping up with a 800, lol.
We logged over 50 miles. Might go back next Sunday if weather looks good.

Just spent the Weekend at Rockhouse and Pinnacle....

We actually had to Call 911 and have a Search and Rescue on one of our crew. Was rediculous. He was half drunk and all pissed said he was going back to the cabin around 6 PM. We got back around 11 PM and he was no where to be found. A firefighter found him on trail 12 WITHOUT his bike. We found his bike about an hour later 3.5 miles from where we picked him up.

Sucked at the time but a great laugh now lol

i want to catch up with ya one of these times. just haven't justified registering the ATV in Ohio yet and a forest permit also, to ride in Wayne national. but hopefully when memorial day rolls around if you want to go to whetstone its free and watch the mudboggers play in the big mud hole.

I’m in the process of trying to get my permission slip signed for next Sunday right now! And just so you all know the State Forest ATV trails in Ohio do not require a trail permit, like Wayne National Forest does. All you need to ride at State Forest is the registration for the ATV. At I think that’s like $34.75 for 3 yrs. We have Perry, Pike and Richland Furnace. Pike and Richland are supposed to be easy smooth trails, and pike even has a novice area IDK thou I haven’t seen them two yet. Wayne is by far the biggest with over 74 miles of trails. And there are tons of jumps for the 700 at WNF, Perry is not like that at all. To give and Idea we were there 6 hrs, rode a little over 2 hrs. And only logged 21 miles! The next time I go back to Perry I think I will be taking the Scrambler. At least it will pull the other's out easier!

Wayne is sweet, when did you go? The weather held out for my ride on 11/20/11, at least until around 3:30. When it started to rain we headed to the water fall, but couldn’t find it :ohno: lol. I've been to the falls 2 times this year. Mostly rode the main corridor until lately, last few times I have been down by all the other trails near P1 through P5 area. Yeah that would be great. Its never to early to start planning a ride. I just have the one boy and he too is 9. He loves to go riding with me but its hard to take him alot of places because he just got into riding this year so he is a little inexperienced. The yerf dog has to be worked on before he can take it out again because it doesnt want to rev past idle. I know it sounds like a chinese model but it actually has a polaris 90 motor on it. It is the same motor as the predator and sportsman 90's. Im sure it is an easy fix but havent got to it yet. Anyway we def have to plan on going.

I dont think he's trail ridden the 90cc yet. I have a pdf file of the

If its like the polaris units I have, theres a jumper in the cdi box you can remove and gain like 25% power or more? The manual should show this info. It's a decent manual but no where near as deep as the service manual for the trx700.

BuckeyeXX
01-02-2012, 01:50 PM
From what I can tell everything about his quad from the frame down is the same. The power gain will be something to look at as he gets more experience so I appreciate the info. I love that he has taken the interest to get into the sport. It will be nice to get him riding with other kids his age so that will be good.

My little Polaris's have the thumb screw to control the speed. So I took the jumper out out all the cdi's. And it says on page 1.11 it will double the speed. Not to sure about that but thats what it says.

Maybe we could hit that place out by you on w. enon rd. one time to let the little one ride that moto cross track. But 1st need to let the dads hit the trails! lol

i finally got me a gopro and i want to make some videos this year

Sweet, I have the slightly older Goppro Hero Hd. did you get the Hero or Hero 2, or something else?

I just lost a h/drive on my main PC. So when I re-installed Windows on new drive, now for some reason Windows live movie maker crashes when I add a gopro video. And it was the only s/ware I could figure out how to use, or get to work!

Nice, the HD hero II came out a week after I got mine. Errr I was PO, but Iron Pony refunded me the new discounted price. I'll bet the still photo's are sweet on the Hero2. with the 11meg camera. And the slow motion is probably sick at 120fps...

Well I hope all works out for you. my thoughts and prayers are with you.

Do you have family in W. Jeff? I work out there usually around 3 days a month. I love the buffet at the China Wok. Although I don't see how that place stays in business.

I will be in moundsville wv. Unfortunately I will be taking a company truck and trailer loaded with all equipment and will be working 12 hr. days. By the time we get done it will be dark and will be exhausted but it would be a blast to be able to take it. On the bright side the money will be good.

I will be working in the Mitchell power plant replacing the buss line in thier switchgear. It will be from the middle or end of march till the middle of April. I will be there for three weeks and a week in hanging rock Ohio before that. Honestly I would love to go ride but we are gonna be pushing time just to finish it in three weeks.

You looking for 60 at the crank or rear wheels? At the wheels would be smoking! You must be putting some work into that baby. And that was great of you to offer your quad out to BuckeyeXX even if it was a Polaris. lol j/k I have 4 for the kids.

I'm hoping for at the wheels but I think I might only be around 57 or 58. And yes the polaris is great utility vehicle has never let me down yet.

Would be okay if the new rider was the one posting about the riding and or area. Felt like a thread jump, lol. And I hope you have a good trip BuckeyeXX, you will miss your quad, but maybe can hook up on that loaner deal one night.

Cool it's still awhile off yet. Have you been there before? Closest trail head to camp grounds is the New Straitsville one, off of 595. Plenty of free parking and 2 different size quad ramp's there.

Not that I don't recommend it but technically you don't need to insure the quad, just need a ATV plate like $34.75 for 3yrs. And then the trail permit. You can buy a one day trail pass for like $12 or a year for $45.00 They have these down there at the camp grounds, or there's several other places to buy one. I get mine @ ironpony.

To be honest I found myself riding my 4*4 more and more so I decided to sell both my 4*4 and my sport quad.

I went to the dark side and bought a commander 1000x. Gives me a good source of speed power and utility. Also, my son is almost old enough for me to take him on a ride. The 700xx not so good for that.

Now I am trying to dump my 700 to afford lift kit, snorkel, and 32 inch tires for it :-D

Rzr 900 is sportier
Commander 1000x more utility

Both are monsters though.

My main reason though, tbh, within my riding crew of about 12 there are 4 rzr 900s and and 2 rzr 800s.

Had to be different lol

Also, that extra 8 inches of elbow room is amazing between the 2 seats.
