Boys, I have had Fox Evol and Podiums for about a year and done about 5000km and never had a problem with them. The advantage of the Evol is its so dam adjustable and that can frustrate some people. I spent atleast a month of playing around to get mine right. What I have found with this quad is you need to have the rear sorted before you play with the front because the rear has such a big effect on the overall handling of the 700xx body roll understeer etc.
I don't think you can go wrong either way. I can see wanting more adjustability, but I can also see sticking with the traditional coil over. Which ones do you like the looks of better? If both girls get nasty, you gotta go for the better lookin one!
If you are less than 200lbs and a weekend warrior , the stock rears are fine. If you are less than 200 lbs and an absolute warrior on the fast and rough stuff , they will suck ! The main problem with the suspension is the fronts were made for a 135 lb weekend warrior , Honda did this to lower the front end , along with the 21" front tyre to help out with "the push" on the front end . The XX was built for desert racing.IMO.

I agree 100%. I'm around 140lbs and my front elkas are very similar to stock but bottom out less and rebound isn't like a pogo stick. And the stock rear shocks are wayyy too stiff and the sway bar made it even more stiff but did corner better. I ride very aggressively and the rear bounced all the time. (and first sentance i think you mean more than 200lbs?)
I'd be curious how it would handle with float technology on the rear and podiums on the front...hmmm....floats and a sway bar could be interesting...talk about cadalliac ride...

You should feel the XX on loose sandy terrain at high speed. It's all over the place. Even on hard pack the bump steer is terrible. I do want to do some whiplash races. I got onto Speedworld Mx's track, mostly tighter stuff with small straights and wooped areas, last weekend and cornering was a bitch and the XX bucks like a wild horseon springs over tight woops and dives in and out of the distanced woops. I figure Teixeira's a-arms, a custom stem with a repositioned flag from Ed that will allow me to use my 7/8 Renthals, Shock and Vibe and CCP damper will take care of a lot of the steering issues (ordered and waiting for my 9/16 L8t0n sway to arrive). I'm looking for a way to take the harshness out of the suspension. The rears have too much rebound and the fronts too much compression for my 210 lb, 50 year old, riding like a maniac ass.
Is there any place we can buy just the springs for the rear shocks?
I'm only 170lbs and 55years old.
Also can I change the spring without to much trouble or special tools?

Call the guys at ishock. I just got mine. Stage 3, all fours for less than $2000. Plus these guys really know their stuff and will guide you through the details and answer any questions you may have.
If you are not inna rush for shocks. Jim @ Motowoz has finished testing on the the 700xx shocks and is building my LT fronts real soon. I am hoping to try them at Round 1 of the British XC on 8th May.
