I never ran mne with out it. it wont hurt it but then you get that loud intake noise and a dirty air box with out much hp gain so there is no point to it if you ask me

2hp gain i can tell it has more power i mostly run with mine off...

you can take the piece off the bottom of the lid and it will do almost the same difference

I think that any hp gain is marginal. You might not think that your air filter would get dirtier quicker since the air box lid has a wide open scoop anyway... but it does. And a dirty air filter would take away any hp gain. There are other ways to get more air flow... The filter itself... If you look at the cage inside, you'll see how restrictive it is. A UNI filter is not much $$ and flows more air than stock. Or, you can open up the stock cage a bit to allow more air... enlarge as many holes as you can with a drill... But make sure you don't weaken the cage too much.

I think I might just cut a hole in the top of the lid and put some panty hose over it, then spray the panty hose with the filter oil.

Anyone have thoughts on that idea before I start cutting? lol

I am going to take measurements of mine today and get a custom outerwears for it so I can have the protection w/ out the cover. I always did this on my 450s.

I either run the EHS lid and no outerwear on the filter, Stock lid and outerwear on the filter or both EHS lid and outerwear. Depends on the conditions. I try most things and like having a choice.
