EHS lid kept the dirt out, I'm sure the air box mod that matlock did also kept out the dirt from what I understand. Either one would keep the debris out.

The EHS box will keep out water if you trail ride, the foam cover will filter the dust but water will get into the box. Both will allow more than enuff air to flow.
