Guys, Wodering what everyone was doing with the Break-in procedure now....

The 2 ways i've heard are....
1. short runs..starting half throtle..backdown....adding a little throttle, each run up to max throttle run...few seconds each run at the upper rpm..break in done in 30min-1hr....

2. By the book.....no more than 1/2 throttle for 4-6 tanks....no constant rpm,s no heavy steady loads...

What do you guys think....?

i've allways rode my bikes easy for the first couple of rides, but, i didn't baby them or follow any procedure. I have never had any problems, my bikes have allways ran great for years.

Ride it normally and use slight precaution. The old "Break In Procedures" don't apply anymore with how parts are machined today.

uummm whats break in ??? I rode it like I stole it for about 2 hours then the big three and a trip to the dunes. after that I changed the oil and filter. If this 700 is as tough as my 450 fourman I will get lots miles out of it. the fourman gets an oil and filter every 2-3 years if it needs it or not. And it goes to the dunes, mud, rock crowl high way cleanup, moves trailers (my car trailer is 3000# + unloaded) cars just about any thing.
