I looked in the bottom of my gas tank today and noticed some dirt. Its not super dirty but it still concerned me. How much dirt/debris can that little fuel filter keep out? Should I clean the tank out or just let the filter do its job?

I think there is a metal screen in the tank to keep the dirt in the tank. Only the really small stuff makes it to the filter. I personally wouldn't worry about it. I have some junk in my tank to.

there is i filter screen in the petcock. and a filter in the fuel pump.

every gas tank will accumulate dirt. You are fine.

i clean the area around the cap be4 i open the tank...and my gas containers have a filter built in
