the yfz is makin good power! tell colin he needs the stage 3 hot cam
The YFZ is sick! Did you see our race video? Both the Raptor and XX had a lot more mods than the YFZ, I can hang with both. With head work the YFZ would be a force. I like looking at not just peak numbers but power bands and potential. The Yamaha motors definitely carry a lot more potential than the XX motor. I wanted a comfortable trail machine so the XX suites my style but if I were straight dune dragger I would definitely go with the YFZ or Raptor!!!

Im just waiting on the funds but I'm doing a lot more than just a stage 3 cam. Im looking at doing the same Big Bore as Valk plus the EHS Excalibur cam, with bored TB, port and polish, with oversize valves. Just waiting on the funds. Probably wont tear it down till after the season though. Not willing to give up any riding time

Well in that case the cheaper it is the quicker it will go. Look at 08700XX. He put his bike for $3500 I think and he had much more done than you. I'm not sure if it sold or not yet. Hope that helps

Wow the raptor really puts down good power with those mods. Although the power curve of the 700xx looks better but damn thats a 5hp more for similar mods.

Only difference is filter and fuel programmer. Pretty incredible what the raptor does with a drop in cam and piston. No wonder why this guy has been beating every time since the day i got my xx. I have a feeling the dunes trip at the end of this month will be a different story! ;)

Not trying to ruffle and feathers but why are you guys spending all this money on port work and big bore kits and still using mediocre cams. Hot cams are ok but why not use a webb to try and get the most out of all that hardwork on the engine?

The bb was a budget build and a bigger cam would require springs and hardened rocker arms. The hc3 just drops in. Also, I had an hc3 which I sold him for cheap so he got a drop in cam for cheap. Hc3 had a really nice power curve too, not a peak number cam but good power for a drop in. He did really well for what he spent.

What he said ^. When I started my build it was to refresh the motor because it was smoking. When I found out I had a .020" lip at the top of the cylinder and a wore out intake valve it got me where I am now. Since I had a local speed shop do all the machining it was very affordable. My big bore and valve job cost me less then what I was quoted just for head work. This way I also left myself some room to go bigger later.
