I use a home made GPS to record my tracks.
Does anybody else here do this and would you like to share.:yay:
Attached is a zip file. Down load and unzip and there is a file called dunes.kmz.
Double click the file and if you have Google Earth installed, it will open and show my tracks at the dunes.
I would like to see other places you guys ride at all over the country.
This is a great way to share places to ride.
Maybe we can get the admin. to up the size limit for ZIP files, I had to find a small file that would fit

Scuzz,
Please tell us how and what you used to get it to work.
That was the smallest file I could find.
That is Amargosa Dunes about 70 miles north of Vegas.
Thanks

I use GPSVisualizer.com
It's a very good translator and you can calc. speed, distance, ground and air tracks.
The only bad thing is it's web based.
I haven't found a stand alone program as good yet.

Only 2 steps.
Under track option select the type of track you want. Speed, distance.ect.ect.
You don't even need to do that. All defaults work.
Then browse to your file and click create KML file.
Once it's created, Save and then double click the file and it will automatically open GE and display the tracks.

That's it!!

Sorry.
I made my own GPS data logger.
It's simple to make but cost about $150.00.
It recordes the GPS NEMA sentences on to a micro SD card.
When your done plug in a USB cable and drag and drop the files to your desktop.
You can buy already made for about $50.00 but thats no fun.
A DG-100 from globsat is about $69.00 from amazon and converts to a KML for you.
Hope this helps.
