HI all, new to 700xx thread ,my question is I have been thinking about getting a 700xx there selling them in oregon for $4500 out the door here or a yfz450r.I race at local gp races in expert class but sold my long travel yfz a few months ago due to several issues with the bike. The tracks we run are fairly high speed and rough with a motocross track mixed in,I'm not a big jumper but make up time in the corners and fast sections.

If i got the honda I would set it up with the houser a arms and fox shocks, there spendy but the quad is $1500 less then what i can get the yfz450r for and that still needs shocks .

Any advice would be helpful thanks Bryon

I am die hard Honda, but think I would have to go with the YFZ in that kind of race. Not knowing the exact tracks, it is hard to say though. You already know what a YFZ handles like on the tracks you run, see if you can try someones 700XX out. IMO, it is hard to beat a light weight revver with an SRA on a course with lots of turns and jumps. We couldn't convert you to a 450R Honda could we?

I've taken my xx places I wouldn't dream of taking a straight axle quad, hell sometimes I make it through the trails easier than the 4x4s but I can still play out in the open and have a blast. That's why I love my xx but for mx, yes you can do it with a xx but the yfz would be a better choice IMO.

IMO, by what you mentioned... The XX is a good option for you... Will you have to get used to it? Yes, but it'll be very rewarding...

My opinion comes from a race we had in June... it was staged at an MX track. I'd say at least 50% of it was mx. The other half was an off road section, which consisted of mostly single track trails... In my experience from it, I had no problems whatsoever running it. Just get yourself a DuraBlue sway bar, and your gold!

where in OR are you ?? theres a few of us here. if you are near me I mabe we can meet and you can take mine for a run.
You sound like me, always offering haha, and I may be moving to Salem.

If you are willing to put the 1500 in arms and shocks, you'd have one killer machine already, still be 1500 ahead of the 450 w/ suspension as well.

thanks for the extra info,I'm not a fan of mx but they make us run it as part of the race ,very simailar to WORCS events.I"m definitly more of a off road rider and into the longer races,we dont have any desert races hear for quads yet.I've been racing my 700 grizzly,I have elkas on that and it helps but you still get tossed around preety good.

Thanks for giving me more info ,its a big commitment to spend on suspension, and I live in salem OR,thanks for the offer to try your quad out Bryon

With the right setup , the 700xx can be a contender in all types of racing.
The a-arms and shocks will fix most of the magazine (Qu4d , Dirtwheels and Atv Action) problems.
The $1500 ,you save will almost get you there and a little bit more.
Raced both 700xx and 450r (which I spent £7,000 on) in XC and the 700xx is quicker for me with alot less money. :D
