Anybody using a HMF full exhaust and have any luck with a heat shield. Wondering what ideas anybody might have or if they were able to fab up the stock shield.

I think hmf used to have a carbon fiber universal heat shield but i couldnt find it on their web site.

do you have any pictures or sound clips? i cant find a one. i dont think it would be too hard to have the stock heat shield tacked onto the new pipe.

Just got it the other day and haven't tried anything yet with it. I was putting feelers out there to see if anyone had any suggestions.

When I get it installed I will be sure to post pictures.....hopefully soon because I leave for McCoys on Thursday.

I installed mine and didn't worry about putting the heatshield back on, I just wear riding pants and it's good. I imagine you can get different clips to put the stock shield back on though.

What's so hard about putting the heat shield on? Just
undo the clamps and move it to the new header. I did the exact thing for my FMF exhaust.

what color of can did you get? what color is your trx? i am desperate to hear a sound clip or see some pictures.

Give me a day or two, shes so dirty right now you can't even tell. Its the natural color can, so basically polished silver or whatever. My Trex is black on black and it sounds amazing, you would not be disappointed, but it is very loud not ideal for anyone riding in an area with noise concerns. It is louder than the 250 & 450 MX bikes I ride with.

thats the thing, im a little afraid that it will be too loud... so im prolly gonna sway to the competition series since i can swap inserts as needed.

I'm in the same boat, I'd like to have a loud exhaust but need it quiet at times and cant decide between Barkers or HMF competition.

i run my competition exhaust with the largest core it is loud but i dont need to run to a certain db limit

the stock heat shield will fit backjust undo the clamps & bolt back on.

I had the pipes on my Raptor Ceramic coated and it helped a lot to cut the heat. Check out jet-hot.com.

You got it Scott, I have had my HMF full system for ages and the standard header guard bolts straight on, it also looks a treat and matches right in with the rest of the gold on the motor.

welp, ive ordered my HMF performance slip-on... except i wont be home to install it until january. at that time, ill put up some pics and video. gonna be purchasing the EHS controller, as im not doing any power mods beyond the exhaust and filter.

My bike is the red one with the HMF exhaust on it.

On a side note, my head pipe seems to be very blue, does that mean something? or is it just from the heat on the pipe, I seem to recall somebody telling me it may be a signal for a machine running lean.

looks sharp!! i ordered an all-black canister. how would you describe the sound? i have only found a few crummy sound clips of this exhaust.
