You just take your seat off, pop the plastic lid off in the back (Held on by 4 little latch brackets you just pop off by hand). You will see your filter, take a screw driver and take off the back piece. Its a pain in the ass..

Then unscrew the filters bracket and it just slides out. Don't forget to oil it (thin coat sprayed on generally)

wait till u gota adjust ur valves...

the chang ur air filter u gota
1. take ur seat off
2.yemove the air box cover (4 meatal clips hold it down)
3. get a #2 (i think) screw driver and remove the clip the suports the back of the air filter...
4. get a #1 screw driver and lossen the band clap arond the front of the air filter.
5. remove air filter..

note: if u got a uni spray wd-40 arond the inner lip so it slides on easly.... and dont forget to oil it.....
a uni probaly will give u 1 hp o the topend ... just by keepin ur air box lid off ull get 2hp with stock filter...

If you do manage to get the screw out on the back of the "L" bracket (back of the filter) I'd take it to your local hardware store and get one that has a HEX head, so you can just use an Allen wrench to get it out. It seems like Honda put Loc-Tite on that lil sucker which makes it difficult to get out. Also, I am assuming this is one of your first times changing the filter (sorry if I assume incorrectly), but while changing it you should clean your air box. Be sure to put a rag or something in your intake to be sure no dust or anything gets in there, and you can wipe your intake out as well, sometimes dirt and dust gets up in there.

I fought that back screw for about two hours too much. I took it to the dealer and waited in the office so I didn't have to see how the technician got it out. Turns out he had to use vice grips to break it loose. I really think they used Lock-tite and not the blue. Ha,ha.

I guess I'm one of the lucky ones... I never had any problem with the "L" bracket when I've had to clean and re-oil my stock filter... And again no problems when I changed over to the UNI filter. The only pain in the ass I had was in separating the foam filter from the cage to clean it. No fun when it's oily and dirty.

And... yes, by all means make sure you clean your air box, lid and everything else you can reach every time you clean and re-oil your filter.
