i'm using a macbook pro15 (better size to transport) and an Imac 24 3.2 both with 4 gigs of ram.
PC's pay the bills since '96.

My wife had a powerbook for a while.

PC here running Vista 64Bit, No Negative side effects either. Anyone else run it? I've heard a million people b1tch about it but its flawless for me???
I have vista on my work laptop. Once I got used to it I really like it. I have had trouble with admin privileges on it. I am set up as an administrator on my computer, but the only way I can actually have administrative rights on the computer is if I am a full admin on our network. This is not really a problem for me since I use admin log in on our servers anyway, but it is just a strange bug in it that would be an inconvenience if I didn't have our server admin. I suppose if I had our tech look at it, he could probably fix it.

I have XP on my home computer that I built.

If i could have found a 15" unibody, thats what I would have bought, but I got a HELL of a deal on this 17", I couldn't turn it down. It's notmuch bigger than the 15 either.

I've got that on my Toshiba Satellite and it seems to run pretty good. Could have bought 4 of the Toshibas for the price of my Apple though... that was the hard part of buying this thing.
Yeah I have a hard time justifying the cast of those. Kinda like only being able to by PC's from Microsoft. IMO Apple would be a lot more prolific if they didn't rein their platforms in like they do.

I think thats part of what makes a Mac a Mac. The software is made by the people that make the hardware so they can't mess it up, crash, have bugs... i'm pretty new to this, but I can't imagine not having bugs - maybe cause i'm a PC user. lol
I believe the lines start getting blurred on who's fault it is when something's buggy or has issues. The OS or is it the vendor? So many opportunities for errors when you have so many variables the equate to what an end user's experience may or may not be.

Imagine if everyone with a hammer made something for the 700xx, sure you would get a lot of great stuff, but in the end it would be a lot of failures. You can see Apple actively try to prevent that with vendors of applications for the iPhone.

Honestly though, if I were to pick a laptop for my wife (and have the money) it would ultimately be the Mac, it does everything she needs right out the box and would have a LOT less chance of getting screwed up by mal-ware and other things that fudge PC's all up.

I think i'm going to try to get my Dad one. Less visits through LogMeIn.com lol
Ugh. You have no idea. I spent about 4 hours logmein-ing into my dad's PC getting rid of this horrible, horrible virus.

It blocked access to the task manager via some obscure group policy and also blocked managment of the pc via the gui. I had to do everything command line. It wouldn't even allow me to install anti-spyware or download it!

I ended up installing as windows 200 - compatable software and then killing the system processes that would block it as they came back up. It put headered frames on the web pages he visited, had a mock "security center" pop-up from the system tray and even changed his desktop background to "you have a virus"

I would vote for a mac for my dad too but he's an avid first person shooter gamer and Mac just hasn't caught up with the PC in that area.

My Dad got that same virus I think. I just gave him a system restore and told him to stay off the pr0n! haha
Oh yeah I even had to turn off the system restore because it was actually using that to re-infect.

My dad was soooooo pissed....he spent most of his time talking about how he would kick the person who wrote the virus' ass and all that. It's funny at first but three hours into it...ugh.

I'm using a Tandy TRS-80. I spend all of my money on my quad so I cant get a new computer:lmao::lmao::lmao:

there is only a 10% premium on the price for a mac with comparable specs... what people dont see ..is they are actually about 40% cheaper after a couple years of ownership... how does one come to that conclusion you may ask...

go sell your 1500 windoze laptop or computer in 2 years.... you can hardly give them away... go sell your 1700 macbook .. youll get 800-900 all day long... so

1500 laptop - 1200 (cause you might get 300 bucks for it) = 300
1700 macbook - 800 (cause more than likely youll get 900 for it) = 900

so the 2nd computer you buy ..especially a mac ... you actually pay much less for it than the new windoze machine.... these are facts.
Dell Latitude Laptop here running XP. Originally had Vista on it. That was the first thing I did was wipe Vista off the HD.

It sure is.
That's probably why you're having issues. You credentials aren't being cached and Vista can't authenticate you as someone who should actually be doing what you're attempting to do.

I've completely gone off the deep end. I've bought into every hilarious commercial. As of today i'm 100% apple, no PC.

Apple Mac Book Pro 17" and a Apple Iphone... they win. :D
