Looking to buy 2 quads, considering TRX700 and TRX 250.
How are the 2008 TRX700 and 250, one for me other for my kids.

I am going to look at two used quads both are from year 2000 a 300 ex and a 400 ex, they are not running been sitting idle for 5 years they are supposedly in good shape. I have no clue about quads, but have been reading everything you have said about the TRX 700 and I am excited.

With the deals on TRX's I am chomping at the bit to buy the new ones, need advice

PS no mechanic here, I just want a solid fun bike.

bikes are cheap now, if looking at the older ones I would say a 2000 300 is worth about $800 to $1000 at max and the 400 $1000 to $1400 max. They will need the carbs cleaned and oil changed before you do any riding and you will more than likely need a new battery for both, they will shock you when you see the price of a new battery. I would get the deals on the new 700 and 250. you can buy a new 700 for about $4200 and a 250 $2300 cant go wrong

And don't forget the Maintenance you'll need to do on them since they've been sitting there for 5 years, depending where they've been sitting, you might need to tare them apart and clean/grease and lube them and even might have to replace some parts due to rust/dirt

If you can afford it, I would purchase new and the 700-250 are both good bike. How old is your son, he might out grow the 250 in a year or so depending on his age.

Notice that you're from NJ, look in PA, they usually have better deals there.

Something to consider is that the 250ex has a sport clutch and while that may be easier for a kid to learn and is a good solid machine. The 300ex may be a better choice for the following reason. At some point a kid will outgrow their starter quad and starting with a machine that's closer in operation to a machine that they'd want AFTER their starter quad will make for an easier transition to a larger quad. Learn to use a full clutch right from the start. IMO

Bird, I just bought a 700xx and 2 250ex's for the kiddos. Couldn't be hapier with the purchase. Right now all I can do is super tight technical trails on my own property and the 250's are perfect for that. The 700 is just too big and fast. I find I'm on a 250 about half the time, much to the chagrin of my kids. :)

Cool! DE700 is from DE and he comes up and ride with us in White Haven and StClair, you and the boys are welcome to ride with us. When the weather is nice, we usually ride on Sunday.
