I got the red ones, the Yellow DEF looks better IMO on the black machine, but I think it would look a lil off on the red. I just wish you could adjust them on the fly. Should be trying mine out all week long starting WEDS I hope, before the first race on it Sunday.

Do you know if these are the DS450 or DS450X shocks? Curious as to what another member mentioned about the ride height, Have you noticed a difference?

These are the DS450X shocks. I have them set-up with the pre-loads backed off most of the way. The way it is setup, the front end sits up about 1/2" higher than stock without a rider. When I am sitting on it, I can't tell any difference. Those shocks have unreal travel. I rode all day yesterday just trying to find somewhere to bottom them out. I caught about 10 feet of air and almost had it (I know that I could change the settings, but this was just stock settings to start with). It corners alot better, the outside front wheel doesn't push going thru a corner like the stock setup would.

I'm all giddy with excitement LOL. The only thing I didn't like about modding is how close you have to grind down on the shocks. But it should hold as it is on the backside on not in a very supportive area.
Smoooth, I just emailed the guy I got mine from, I think he is racing today but once I find out I will let you know what model they were off. And once I can post pics I will put them in the other threat to show how close I had to grind, using a dremel and angle grinder.

Something that may help, I took mine to a machine shop, and got them to put my shocks on a milling machine. They milled the the top mount down to the thickness that i needed. Each side is the same thickness from center, and both surfaces are completely square. If you take a little more time and do a little more trimming with the grinder, you dont have to take much off of the 700's mounts. All I had to do was make the radius on the back and front a little wider (maybe a 1/8" if that). Then went back touched up those places with paint. Put a polishing wheel on the Dremel, and polished out the places on the top of the shock. Looking at it close up, you cant tell that those shocks aren't factory.

Yeah, what I am talking about is the actual shock, where the hole is, just on the outside edge of it, the thickness of the shock metal itself there to the thickness every where else is just not the best. I did the same w/ the mounts though, did very little, used a dremel the hole time on the mounts to keep it nice looking.

Thats what I was thinking, underside of mount and topside of the shock. But if there is a pob, not out much money I suppose. I check to see if one of my elkas from the 450 would work, but def not LOL.

I found a set of brand new take-offs shipped to my house for $90. I went and looked through the for sale post of the www.DS450HQ.com forum and they have stock shocks on there all the time.

The yellows are the X model, and reds are the base model, directly from the guy that sold them if anyone wants to know.

Shovelhead, you cant spend $100 on anything else on your 700 that will make as much difference as the front shocks will

do you cut them down to the same size as the bush on the origanal shock. do you need the bush on the ds shock to stick out a little to allow for movement ?

Corsari,
I grinded both the bushing and the shock down to the same thickness and didn't worry about the movement.

those look like the regular 450 shocks, the x series are typically more bronze colored
