We do alot of trail riding in NC & SC, Carolina Adventure World mainly. You could not pay me to take a 450 on a trail ride. I ride with six other guys who all ride honda 450's. Alot of the trails we ride are full of ruts and you know what that means. Those guys are wrestling the 450s to stay on top of the ruts. I just take the 700 right up through the middle of them and never look back. Then i get my tow rope and go back all hook to them and pull them out when they get stuck.

It is a wonderful feeling knowing that I do not beat myself to death wrestling my ride all day. I may catch alot of crap about the 700xx from them, but I can still walk at the end of the day.

Do any of you feel the same way?

For a better ride, what shocks would yall recommend, b/c i need something that will allow for a little more adjustment than what the factory shocks will allow?

I could not agree with you more...one guy keep trying to get up the same hill and the ruts would flip him after the third try we moved on to a different trail but I was happy with my desicion to buy the 700xx... also mapping out my path in my head is easier with the ground clearance...boulders are nothing to this machine :)

everyone seems to have elkas... search the threads theres a lot about the shocks!

I have to agree. The main reason I bought the XX was the ground clearance. Some of the trails around here are boulder fields with rock the size of bowling balls and larger. My buddies with 4x4 quads hang with me, but all of my riding friends that have SRA'S are like i'm not going though that! I only have one friend that will hang anywhere and she rides a 660 Raptor. I have been trying to get her to try the XX but she is stubborn.

I do love my Elka's to death, but in my opinion, you need at least Stage 2+ to have real good adjustability.... and they would be $940.00 per pair. Stage 1 would still be better than the stock shocks, but you'd still only have pre-load.

I do not have experience with Fox Floats Gen 2, but hear they are nice as well.

hahaha sounds like the kind of girl I would actually get along with :)

I would think if she is use to the raptor and go the same places as you that others wont ...why get a 700xx she obviously knows how to make a raptor do what she wants and most can't...so good for her!

Im from NC, about 30 miles west of Charlotte

If your friend goes anywhere that you go, and she's riding a raptor...... just think what she could do on a 700xx

On the trails this past week, I know exactly what you are saying, I saw boulders that I would never think about crossing with a straight axle. I love IRS!

After todays try out on a MX track , I have to say I agree. I thought the 700xx was going to bad at this but guess what I was wrong. This quad is soo much fun on the track . I had to adjust a few things but it was fun. No more straight axle for me.:D

def have the advantage at CAW, i cant count how many times ive gone around a stuck raptor or any other straight axle sport atv in some of those trail bottoms. The trails can get pretty rutted out by them 4x4 guys that run 28" tires, but the xx takes those ruts like a champ!

were you out at the last night ride at CAW, red xx? if so, i think i saw you...
