Major issue....

I went to change my oil tonight.
1)Drained the engine oil from the bottom of the case, reinsert oil plug.
2)Replaced oil filter.
3)Put 1.5 quarts into the oil tank and starts to overflow... not draining. 4)Removed oil filter case, oil flows outs and filter is installed correct.
5)Removed oil drain plug, NOTHING COMES OUT!
6)Check oil tank, still full.
7)WTF??

Any ideas? I'm thinking a clogged line or something?
Anyone have any similar issues?

I don't see it mentioned, so I will ask, did you drain the oil tank itself? There is a drain bolt at the front of the tank. If you didn't pull that bolt, then the oil tank had quite a bit of oil in it already before you added more.

That and I think the oil is actually pumped from the tank to the motor, so I am sure it would take a while for the oil in the tank to get to the motor under just gravity.

You guys nailed it on the head... that's what I deserve for trying to cut corners. I was thinking like a car, once you pour it in, it drains to the bottom.

Thanks for your help and I apologize for my absent mind!

As usual, this forum rocks.

iNick,
Don't feel bad. This machine has three places to drain oil. Just read your manual. "CAUTION" Be very careful about installing a new oil filter. Make sure you read the section on direction the filter is inserted in the housing. The Honda filter comes with a little instruction in the package and the filter has instruction stamped into the filter itself. Could also read the "How To" Oil Change Section of this forum.
