:confused: I heard a rumor from a local honda dealer that honda has discontinued the TRX700XX. Is this true? I don't want to hear speculation, I have my own opinions of what honda will or will not do. I just want facts. Sorry if I seem blunt but, I really want to know if this is for real. I like my 700 but, If it is obsolete I may consider unloading it before I get stuck with a machine I will have a hard time getting parts for.:confused:

Can't confirm or deny the rumor, but I know the LAST place I would rely on for accurate info is my local Honda dealer. I think my 80 year old grandmother knows more about the Honda product line then them. Who knows, maybe this dealer does have some good info. I will only believe it though when I hear it from Honda.

I would be willing to bet that there will not be a 2011 700XX either, but I don't believe Honda spent all the time and money to develop this quad just to produce it for two years. I believe it will return, the question is when.

I feel the same about dealer info. but, he has me a little shaken. I beleive Honda may drasticly change the 700. such as solid rear axle. That is just my opinion. I don't think they will completely abandon the idea. But the way they sold the over-stocked 08's, They can't be happy with the 700 debue. I know the msrp was 9 thousand something and i bought mine for $4500.00.

I have contacted Honda UK about this and basically Honda Japan is keeping very tight lipped about the 2011 line up. The only sports quad in the UK 2011 line up is the TRX90.
I have not heard of a big launch or any press about the line up so it could go both ways. New 450r EFI or no sports quads at all.
I would wait till Jan 2011 before I start panicing.

Not panicing yet. I like my 700 too much to get rid of it on a hunch. Even if they do stop the 700's, I'm going to keep a hold on it till i try to buy a oil filter and they tell me they have to order it.

Honda surely has a bad taste in their mouth over selling so many so cheap, but at the same time I saw a lot of other brands at steep discounts as well. Chalk it up to the economy. The one positive thing that happened is that they got a whole crap load of machines out there into the hands of riders. There is quite a following now. Even though the machine has a few problems, the fixes are coming along nicely. It is a hell of a machine and the IRS does make it a cadilliac. I'm still trying not to take it for granted that when rough trail riding, I don't give a second thought to bottoming out or dodging rocks...or how much my kidneys hurt at the end of the day...so easy to forget what a pain in the azz it was with my last SRA. Now I concentrate on hitting that next turn, or nailing the next jump...I don't worry any about that crap anymore...
From a business standpoint, I guess Honda would have justification to go either way, however, if anyone at Honda is following the consumer viewpoint, I think they would choose to ride it out a bit longer...

Some of you seem to have a wrong idea of something. What we end up paying at the dealer may not be what the original MSRP was, but just represents a smaller margin for the dealer... What the dealer paid Honda for the quad probably didn't change... just what they can expect to actually get from us during a shitty economy. Less for the dealer, but the same for Honda. I would doubt that a dealer actually paid Honda more than $3500.00 for our quad... in the first place.

Actually, the rebates cost Honda. So when the 700XX's were selling with $2,500 rebates, once the dealer sold the quad and submitted the info to Honda, Honda would send a $2,500 check to the dealer. That is one bad thing about the 700XX, Honda had to offer some pretty big discounts to sell them, I did not see any other sport quds in the Honda lineup gettting big rebates, if any rebates at all. I know the rebates stopped over a month ago, makes you wonder if there are not many left or if Honda just said forget it, we will just sell them for what they cost and let the dealer deal with the prices. I would be willing to bet there are still alot of 2009 models out there, how many people do you actually see with a 2009?

Anyone been to a dealer in the last couple of weeks? What are the 700xx's actually selling for now without the rebates? I bet you will not see the $4,000 or so out the door price as before. I would be willing to bet that $6,000 or so is about the norm now, unless a dealer really needs to move some inventory for cash flow.

Dealer accidentally handed me an invoice sheet from Honda that looked official? It showed the dealer gave $5800.00 for the XX's. $4500.00 plus $2500.00 back from Honda looks like dealer still made $1200.00 a piece on the three bikes we picked up. Admittedly, I have no proof as I only had a few brief moments to look at said sheet before he realized he handed it to me and asked for it back. Sounded like a reasonable price from Honda to dealer to me and buddy as we discussed it on our way home??????????

As far as there still being some out there....... Not around here. Both my nephew and a freind are currently looking for the xx. nothing within three or four states. I guess they did find some 09's in Oregon but, they don't want to travel that far to get one. All of the local dealers say "don't have any, can't get any, may never get any." I hope Honda does keep the xx in it's line-up. Not because I want another but, because I want parts to be readily available. But, Anyhow,.... Thanks for the input fella's. Popular oppinion seems the same as mine. We haven't seen the last of the XX..

I have three friends that have bought recently--one just before the end of October, one the next week (in November, I think). All of them paid $4400.

The worst part is IF you were one of the people like me that paid full retail for the '08 when it first came out and you wanted to sell it, you are screwed. Did you realize that the trade-in value on one is barely over 3 grand? Not that I would EVER trade mine in, but it is sickening how little they are worth. I am actually trying to sell mine and get a Renegade right now, although I LOVE the XX. I have a fortune dumped into that thing. I don't think the XX is coming back, they are STILL selling the '09's. Honda was the only manufacturer to sell machines at that massive discount.

Look at the bright side, if they stop making this machine. Down the road people will realize what great machines they are and will be in demand because they don't make them anymore. Then you will own a iconic machine like a 1970 Hemi Cuda or a 69 Z28.
