Alright guys, im about at my wits end with this.
When i first got my 2008 700xx (used from original owner), it would fire up instantly. it was also completely stock.
Now that ive had it for about 6 months, ive added a HMF full exhaust, Uni filter running with no lid, and a LEXX EFI programmer.
I've spent alot of time tuning and getting the settings right, which are just ever so slightly from what LEXX recommended for roughly what mods i have. and let me tell you it runs like crazy. There are very few quads that can even come close when me and my buddies race on the beaches. Banshees, 450rs, Raptor 660s and 700s, and quadzillas all fall short.
However, recently it is growing harder and harder to get started. It's not cold weather, bc its really not that cold and it is stored in my heated garage. I assumed it was the battery going bad, so i replaced it an nice AGM battery from my local ATV shop, and the issue was the exact same.
It stuggles to turn that huge motor over, and struggles and struggles, and eventually runs the battery down to the point where it just dies. However i have learned that if i turn the key on, wait for the injectors to rime or whatever the noise is to quit, try to start it, fails, turn key off and back on again, let the noise stop, and hit start, it usually fires right up.
Like i said, once started this thing runs perfect. But starting it just isnt easy anymore. I put in a brand new plug while i had the tank off to adjust the valves, i assumed that was the issue due to my research on here, however it made no changes. they were also not out of spec, but loosened and tightened to spec again just to be safe.
My last resort is put a new starter in it, thinking maybe its what is dragging, but ive tried holding the wires to the starter to see if they feel hot and they do not, ive checked the voltage under load, and the battery is showing 13.12V
I'm hoping the EHS guy will jump in and help bc he seems to know it all.
Any help please?!
