Guys,
I have a stage 3 hotcam sitting in my draw, and I am debating if I should install it or not.
I have the Big 3 on the bike, but would like some feedback if I should install yet or do I need new rockers and springs?
Should I put a piston in it at the same time.
The bike runs fine, low hours etc.

Cheers

If you already have it torn down that far the piston is just a bit farther. Might as well do it too so u don't have to go in again later. Just my thoughts. I know the stage 2 was drop in. I thought stage 3 was too but not positive.

I was told all 3 stages of the hot cam were drop in. I agree with crash, if you are going to install the cam you should do a piston at the same time. If that’s something you’re interested in, Smooth has a great deal on a piston.

The piston was easy to do also. It was my first time ever doing it and it was easy. Got it together and it runs like a champ! Just follow the directions and if you have any problems call a lady by the name of Harley at CP. She was awesome when I needed help

Ok - Sounds like I should do the piston as well.

Crash - What do you recommend and how do I go about getting it from you?

Anything else I should do while I'm inside?

Would I need to change my settings on the fuel controller?

Thanks for the assistance!

You don't get it from me... Smooth is selling them. I went with 11:1 because being able to run pump gas was important to me. Yes you would have to change your fuel programmer settings. Which do you have? As for doing more while inside that is a whole different can of worms lol. That depends on your budget and what you are looking for. There are some amazing high HP builds going on right now. A port and polish wouldn't be a bad idea. It all depends on your cash. I wish I would have done the port and polish personally but my funds were stretched tight at the time and I really don't want to tear it down again! You work with what ya got lol

Theres a lot you can do once you go in the motor. P&P the head, +2 or +3 on the throttle body, Piston, and your cam would be a nice setup but its kinda $$$$.

If I'm going to go in I may as well go all the way!
My problem is living in Australia and having the port and polish stuff done etc.
Was thinking about the Thumper 727 or Alba and have seen the EHS post regarding bigger bore again.

IMO the White Knuckle 727 kit is a lot better than Thumpers and I was not happy with the work I got from Alba.
