So I am putting the tusk extenders on the XX, and while doing so also installed a dual gasser throttle, and have some moose hand guards. I have a question for anyone that may have done something similar with the hand guards as I have never deal w/ stock bars before. They are the ones that wrap around to the end of the bar and you screw them in.
Anyway, the weights that are in the bars that the stock endcaps get screwed into....are they necessary? I can't remember the bars on my 450 having them, but then again I don't remember tearing them apart at the ends as I just replaced them. If I do need them, then I take it I can just use the screw that came on the machine instead of the screw that came with the hand guards?
It looks like I have to even though the hand guards came with those little angle pieces, and they don't really fit in there as they are a much smaller diameter than the bars themselves.
Thanks.

Chris

The weights in the handlebars are basically there for anti-vibration so I do not see why you could not take them out but don't recall if you can take them out.

Thanks Nash, and it's Chuck LOL. I took one out that is why I am asking. I had a hell of a time getting the stock bar end off from one side, and haven't attempted the other yet. It is like the weight was spinning around with the screw.

If you are taking the buffers outta the bars then fill the bars with silicone sealant . It does the same job but takes some doing. I have be doing this for years and now most Renthals have some sort of filler in there bars.:D

Sorry Chuck

Yeah! they are a PIB to remove and that's one reason why I went to OS Bars.
