Wow never met any one else that liked the ridgebacks.. I was going to get a Rhodesian Ridgeback until my husband meet a male and saw they can get the size of mastifs! Thai was next on my list but ended up with a Berger Picard! I might have some of the research I did on breeders of the Thai Ridgeback...but if you can join a forum with Thai owners you are sure to find a great breeder. I had my dog imported from France to get the best quality breeding...and there are only 400 in the US to date..good luck!

smooth try this breeder http://www.thaidog.com/

For the past 15 years, we have tried to supply the very best TRD we could find here in Thailand to the American, Canadian, and European TRD markets. We do believe the finest quality of the Thai Ridgeback breed are still being produced here in Thailand. We want to continue to bring to you, the new TRD pet owners and breeders of this truly awesome breed, the very best TRD we can find or produce from the breeding stock we have created in those 15 years.

Shipping:

All of our Sterling TRD are shipped at the 4th month due to USDA rules and the rules on shipping any puppy direct from Thailand. Do not be fooled by some others who make false claims or try to copy our lead. Sterling TRD are bred for the pet owners best interests in mind. Most people want just a pet #1 and are not interested in high dollar show quality dogs. Most breeders will have both top of the line show pups as well as just simple pet quality pups. Tell us what you want and need in your TRD... Do you want a male or a female and what color as well. Name your price range and we will be able to full fill your needs for sure.

Buying a TRD:

The best way is to come and meet me in person here in my new home. Everyone is always welcome to visit with us and see our dogs. But if you cannot take the time to spend a few days in Chiang Mai on a holiday you will never forget... (there are so many sites and you will have simply wonderful fun packed days here) the next best way is to download SKYPE in your computer at
www.skype.com and do a search for ... jacksterlingtrd ... and then we can chat in a "online video" hookup using your web cam as my cam is on and working each day. This is the only way anyone has very bought a TRD from us. It is the only way... If you want real true Sterling TRD testimonials than this also the best way to contact all those other folks who have also bought a Sterling TRD from us in the past.

The cost of a TRD:

The TRD in Thailand today costs about 3000 to 30,000 Thai baht. If one figures that in American Dollars.. that is about $100 to $1000 USD. If you want just a pet quality TRD figure on spending about 10,000 Thai Baht or $300 USD. All of our TRD are now priced to sell as pets only. All females we suggest should be fixed by the 6th month to avoid their first "heat" cycle that normally come at the 7th or 8th month. All males can also be fixed at this same time. Shipping and the cage costs are in addition to the cost of the TRD.

So, you can figure you will now pay no more that $1000 to $1800 for your Sterling TRD and the cage plus shipping costs.

Same site said this about the breed:

Temperament
Until recently the Thai Ridgeback was relatively unknown outside of eastern Thailand and is very rare elsewhere. This breed is a good watch, guard and hunting dog, but also makes a nice companion. Tough and active with excellent jumping ability. It is a very active and alert dog but also a bit aloof towards strangers. May be difficult to train. The Thai Ridgeback needs an owner who understands the breed. A Thai who is poorly raised can be aggressive. They require a dominant owner.

I only now the Rhodesian Ridgeback and he was a big boy that was a mush when he knew you but very scary when you just met him for the first time...

I paid $2000 for my Berger Picard and he is the best dog! and his sense of humor compares to none but he is a bit spoiled so I can't fault him on his bad habits...only bad parents...lol

Thought this was a cute picture of Thai Ridgeback Puppies

So they are kinda like raising a Pitbull i take it. I have raised Two Pits and they are not bad dogs once you understand them.

Pics of Jinro when he was a pup to this summer (he loves to swim)

I went to the Saints game this past weekend and stayed a few days in N.O., At one of the shops we stopped in they had two of the blue ones. There pretty cool and seemed to have alot of "personality". My fiance only likes ankle biters but commented she wouldn't mind one of the Ridgebacks, Soooo... I'll take it over any ankle biter.

I really want one of the blue ones like I seen, They have another breed of ridgebacks that get up to 160lbs but don't have blue coats! The Thai's are usually 60lbs.
