Well with my tires off of my stock rims to get powder coated I have decided to possibly put some better tires on the front to help with cornering. Does any one have any advise on what to get? From what I have heard is that with better front tires it will corner even better. If I do put better tires on the front is there some better rear tires out there that will not take away the effect of the better front tires?

Thanks

I went with RAZR2 front tires. They really helped with the handling and when the rear ones come out, I will be putting a set of them on too.

The guys running in Baja were using 22" or 23" Maxxis Razors, I would also consider the 22" ITP GNCC. The feature I think these tires have that will help with steering is the large center line of knobs that should give good directional bite. Hope this helps?

Definitely Razr 2's or GNCC's on the front. The 10" wide rear tire that is coming out does concern me a bit. The stock is 9" wide. My fear is that the rear end is going to hook up even better with the new Razr rear tire, which will cause even more push in the front end. Thoughts?

I can't wait to get a full set of Razr's but I hate the yellow lettering, Can you get them without it?

I have been wondering the same thing. I really dont need better traction on the rear, just a better tread pattern to allow the tires to slide more.

Don't forget... the stockers are radials which will flex and squat more than Bias ply, which cause a shift in weight to the rear. The Bias ply should keep the weight transfer to a minimum and allow the fronts a chance to bite more (at least in theory).

So what size Maxxis tires are you running on the front. I got my black powder coated rims done at work today and know I am looking for some tires to put on them. Does any one have stock rims that they want to get rid off? I would like them to put the spare tires on.

Thanks

I agree that traction is not the problem in the rear. I just need a tire with some puncture resistance. Ive popped a hole in both a front and a rear tire, just from "cruising" over some rocky trails. I kind of hoped that Maxxis would make the Razr 9" wide like the stock tire.

Rocky Mountain ATV has the stock Dunlop. It rates it as a 6-ply tire. $109.99 each!!!

I wonder if it is the exact same as the stock tire? It looks the same, but I wonder if the stock tire is "rated" as a 6-ply? If the stock was a four ply, then they might be ok. I wonder how much the Razr will be? $110 is a LOT for a tire.

So what Maxxis tire size is available for the front and what size will be available for the rear.

You should be able to find any tire you want for the front. It is my understanding that the Razr will be available in a 22x10x11 for the rear.

I'm hearing quite the stupid price for these from Maxxis. $239.00 each. Which is possible since the XX will be the only bike using them.

You could buy 2 - 10" wheels for that price. (Which is what I would do)

well ... even if they were 239 each which i doubt ... would be worth every penny. I would not purchase 10" wheels. that would put too much rubber on the rear. There is a very very good reason honda did not put 10" wheels and tires on this thing ... that you can be certain of.

Does anyone know if the stock tires are rated as a 4-ply or a 6-ply?
