Can of fix-a-flat is a great thing to have.

I was also wondering exactly which size tools would be most common for the 700xx. I want to put together a small road kit that has all the main things I'd need for the road. This is my list so far:

Can of fix-a-flat
Oil
Chain Lubricat
Coolant
Set of allen wrenches.
Zip Ties, various sizes.
Roll of black electrical tape (black is the fastest color)
Tire repair kit.
Vice Grips
Various Pliers
Utility Knife
Duct Tape (I always keep a roll in my truck)
Extra air filter.
Spare lug nuts
Air pressure gauge (have one in the stock kit but It looked kinda cheap)

Some of the things I'm thinking about getting backups for are:
-Extra wheel and tire (both front and rear) for those times when I don't want to drive an hour + to get to a tire shop.
-Extra sprockets
-Extra chain (or at least extra links)

That's the start of my list anyway.

I guess I need to go over my xx with a fine tooth comb and figure out which size sockets and extensions I need to put in my travel kit.

Tools

I don't race but I have used a Honda tool holder from a 400EX on my Suzuki quadracer and soon on the XX. It can mount on the left side opposite of muffler. I also found a indexing head ratchet ,from Lowes, real handy for chain adjustment. 1/4" drive and when the head is locked in an "L" is real good to get at the front lower bolt for chain adjustment on the XX. Gets around the skidplate while still ratcheting. It's not the old flip head ratchet we are all used to. The head adjusts in the same plane as ratcheting motion.
