Hey guys I just got my trx 700 about 2 months ago. I put a barker exhaust, airbox lid and efi controller in today. When I started it up and let it idle for a few minutes the bike began to overheat. I was wondering if anyone else had any issues with there bikes overheating. I have not had a chance to call EHS racing as it was to late in the day. I thought I would ask here first. The fan motor did not kick on and the fuse for the fan was still good. Didn't know if this just happened to be a fluke thing or something I did when installing the exhaust airbox lid and efi controller. Any thoughts would be great. Thanks

Why would you think it was overheating?

Hard to say but I wouldn't think it was overheating if the fan never came on.

the radiator will smoke or steam if there is water in the fins. mine does that after i wash it, and i crank it up and let it idle to dry it out for a few minutes.

The bike was dry and sitting in my garage for the past few days. Im going to check it out again tomorrow. Might have to bring it in to Honda if it continues.

keep us posted on what it turns out to be. I would be interested in knowing. Good luck with it.

Even after I hose mine off and I don't run it, will still smoke if there is water sitting on the top or in the fins of the radiator days after when I do start it. It will continue to smoke for a while until it dries out. What I do is take my shop vac and try to blow the water out. It does help a bit.

Are you sure it wasn't the new header that was smoking? A new exhaust will smell burnt and can smoke it there is any residual oil on it.

yeah it def was not the header smoking. The steam was coming up from behind the front grill and I took the whole front plastic off and could see condensation on the plastic. I then dried everything off and the radiator began to condensate while it was running then eventually started steaming again. I took it to Honda this morning, will see what the say in a few days. I'm starting to think there is a pin hole in my radiator somewhere and when it starts to build pressure it begins to leak.

So it smells like antifreeze when it steems??? I think some where on here some one else had issues with a pin hole in the radiator.

It was probably just steam coming off of the radiator from water still caught in the fins. I have noticed mine doing this in cold weather when I wash it inside and don't ride it to dry it off, even days after washing it. It will build up a large amount of condensation under the front plasitc if you let it idle for a bit. You shoud be able to run your finger through the condensation and tell if it is antifreeze or just water. I actually thought the same thing the first time mine did this. For your antifreeze to turn to steam, the bike would have to be hot enough for your fan to be running.

got my 700 back from Honda today and they tech said it was as faulty fan switch. Put a new one in and haven't had a problem. Hopefully this only a one time thing.

Glad to hear it was a simple fix. Lets see if it happens to anyone else. What did they charge you for it?
