Does anyone have any experience or opinions regarding Velocity air filters? They look pretty slick. I was wondering about their quality as compared to a K&N. I was going to go with a Uni until I recently cleaned and oiled my stocker...man I HATE cleaning and oiling foam filters. Anyway, Velocity has them for sale on their ebay store, as well as Alba.

im not a mechanic ... im fluent with suspension & steering ... had to have a kawasaki mechanic put it on ... it fits so snugly that you question if it is supposed to fit that way...but it does fit.

Ill ask the kawasaki mechanic what he did to fit it.

talk to the guys there at alba ... they are slow to respond to emails, but they are very good at explaining things ..and sell a bunch of stuff for the xx.

Does anyone know if the existing EFI module will compensate for the additional air if you install an aftermarket air filter and don't add a pipe or a programmer?

If you looked at the OEM filter setup, you'd be amazed at how any air gets thru it at all. I would think that the air flow would be more than doubled with a gauze type filter. Funny how when the efi machines started to hit the market a big deal was made about how you could add a pipe and an air filter and the stock efi system would compensate on its' own. It quickly changed to the required addition of an aftermarket efi controller. I would hope that the factory computer would increase the fuel to adjust for the increase in airflow, but who knows?

Unless they have made some great changes to the EFI module, you will run lean with an aftermarket filter. These things, just like street bikes, run a little lean from the factory due to emission regulations. I'm new to quads, but have built some decent street bikes, nitrous to turbo setups and have always added an aftermarket management system. I am running one click up on all of the factory settings that 2Bros sent me and the quad is running great.

My Velocity filter will be coming by UPS today. Any tips for mounting the adapter?
Thanks, Dave

So how loud is that 2Bros pipe on your XX? How do you like it? Was it worth the bucks?

Its real loud, but a deep sound. Tried it with the spark arrestor out and it was too loud, even for me. Installed the velocity filter today. About a 5 min job, nice and easy. Just had to wash it first, let it dry, lube it and install the adapter, which is only a plastic ring that slips into the stock pipe in the air box.

The filter is a simple install. I'm not sure if Trailin me had an early version but mine only came with a slip collar you slid into the original mount and then fitted air cleaner and tightened worm gear.

What did you do with the little crankcase breather that pushes into the side of the filter? A foam filter will allow it to seal off by pushing into it, but it doesn't look like you will get a seal with the gauze type filter.

You really never get much of a vacuum on the crankcase with how the stock setup is made. I just left it as is. The main purpose of the factory setup is to contain any blow by and not actually pull vacuum on the crankcase. Also on a side note I run the optimizer through the snorkel into the breather box to keep outta the elements
