Went riding today and it went great for a few minutes, then the quad started popping on the top end. After shutting it down the quad for fear of something breaking. (My fear was something like the cam lobes being rounded or something extreme like that.) So I get the quad version of the walk of shame...I get pulled back to the parking lot.
Of course all kinds of things are going though my head:
Did I put the oil filter in correctly?
Did I over oil the air filter and foul out the plug?
Well I get back to camp and pull the plug thinking it's fouled and it's perfect, no oil or anything yucky on it. I check the oil and I'm good there too. I look in the gas tank because I forgot to fill up before getting to my riding area.
Crap. Could that be it?
I fill it up and...nope...it started, but after I shut it off it wouldn't start again grrr....
So I pull out my laptop and decide to check the programmer. When I noticed the lights were only on for a short while I plugged in my laptop for the confirmation.
Yep.
The USB device was malfunctioning (according to XP), so I removed the programmer, put the stock air lid back on and put the spark arrestor beck in the muffler - all so I can restrict the flow and keep it from leaning out without a programmer ritchening the fuel mix. After that it fired right up and actually I was quite impressed with how well it did in spite of the programmer not being there.
Oh, and the PCIII comes with a year warranty and Fuelkmoto adds another two years to the manufacturer warranty, so I'm glad I bought from them..
I'll post up what they say when they get it.
