My set up:
-uni filter
-barkers exhaust
-alba programmer
-14tooth front
- 8 paddle 20x11x10 GBC sand sharks

His set up
-2 bros slip on
- i think 22" haulers? all i know is they are straight 10 paddle
-14 tooth front

when we raced, he got the launch and stayed ahead but i caught up fast but lost by about 1/2 a length, then we switched 700s, i got launch and stayed like 2 lengths ahead.

we weigh about the same and for the people that think reds faster, we were both on black and greys. lol

why was his quad better on the sand? do the paddles make that much difference? and should i switch to a 13 tooth?

Yes the paddles make that much of a difference. there's a reason duners swear by the skat~trac's. The 13t really helps imo in the sand.

Huge diff, bikes that drag will only ride str8 with 8-12 set up. Then ask them to turn on a high hill and laugh...LOL,
Think of paddles as slicks on a drag strip...
then think of performace tires used for road cross that requires turns etc...

depends what you want, but really only way is trail and error and with a drag/gps to calculate it.
Str8 drag with our tq i say a 10 paddle skat trac and probably 13t
for being able to turn and have confidance in turning when not paying for front paddles then others are fine.

Turning under throttle sucks with any paddles. I've had literally 3 different sets and not one of them helped the under-throttle turning radius.

yeah tires are key with a dialed in setup in 300' you can switch tires that are really close but slightly different and lose a .10 second switching from what you have i could easily see .30 of a second easily if not more. if you relate hp to time there really isnt any formula but i would figure somewhere between 5-8hp so tires could be worth a lot of HP if you look at it like that
