headscratch 450's VS Our XX

Just wanted to ask if any of you guys have lined up against any of the 450's out there. If so let me know what the results were. If not what do you think would happen?

the xx is gonna win unless its a real tricked out 450 i have drag raced yzf450 trx450 quads the mods were big 3 or less on the 450 and i have a big 3 xx th 450 and xx from the start thru first 3 gears and 4 and 5th gear the 700xx would pull away by 4 quad lengths the 450s rev alot higher and you shift alot more riding them i have never rode a built 450 but the stock ones dont impress me a bit i like the torque and top end of the xx a lot better than the 450s i tried

Exactly, I always hear "oh a 700xx ha those things are pigs and way to heavy" and I just say this pig has almost twice the motor as your 450 ,I like my pig ;) I just hate having to rev the 450 so high to make any real power. their nice but not for me. I had a 400ex that would run with 450's all day

Sorry, but I own two 700XX's and I be the first to say they are "pigs and way to heavy" in stock form. The 700XX is a slug bone stock. The big three really woke it up. It has been a LONG time since my 450R's were stock, but when I bought my first 700XX I rode with a guy that had a bone stock 2005 450R, and the 450R would walk away from my 700XX every time. Not by much, but it would. (and the 06 and up 450R's have even more power stock.) I was a little better rider then him also, and he would still win. You also have to figure, a 700XX weighs over 100 lbs more then a 450R, that is ALOT to make up for. I am guessing that stock for stock, both quads are about the same horsepower wise. Same horsepower but an extra 100 lbs, who do you think has the advantage? After riding my stock 700XX and that guys stock 450R back to back one day, if I could only own one, as much as I hate to say it, the 450R would be the one I would chose.

Can a 700XX win in a race with a 450 based quad? Of course, but rider ablility has a lot to with any type of riding. The thing I have noticed most is the 700XX revs a lot slower then a 450, those quick revs make the quad that much faster in a race. I will be the first to admit, I am not much of a drag racer, but if I had a bone stock 700XX and a bone stock 450R pull up next to me on the line, I would be scared!

That being said, I love my modified 700XX's, but still in a drag race, I bet my modified 450R's would still win. Still my 700XX's have there advantages over my 450R's, but a drag race is not one of them.

The gearing and how far you are racing have a lot to do with it. Stock for stock the 700 has more top but you are putting a torquer up against a revver. My experience with piped 450s is that they will usually get the hole but about 4th or 5th the 700 will start reelin them in. That is with big 3 on the 700. Don't line up against a 450 2 wheeler though, they will hand it to you in a hurry.

well, i dont and wont refer to my XX as a slug or pig because it's neither in my oppinion and that said it's my oppinion. I wasn't knocking the 450r but it could be called a slug too if you compared it to the more modern 450's . I didnt mean to be a part of a pissin match I still would choose the XX but I woods ride and don't drag race and in the woods I love it. There is a learning curve from handling differences but overall I love the thing. the 450r and XX really shouldnt be compared because they are in no way the same any way. the 450r is a track bike and the XX is a trail bike and a good on at that.

I agree the XX dominates in the woods! I have rode with a 450 or two, they can keep up with a good rider, but they get BTS trying. While the XX rides so smooth, at end of the day and I'm nearly twice there age I'm half as sore!
