My Son is leaving for basic training for the Marines 1/27/14 And we just booked a rental house for our stay for our Son's graduation. 5 days 4 nights $1400.00 total with all taxes, insurance and cleaning fee's. Were splitting this with a second family "friends of ours". The best price we found through priceline.com on 2 small hotel rooms would of been $577.12 This house looks well worth the $122.88 each difference. The owner says it has 9 beds and 6 couches! Between the 2 family's we will have 4 adults and 9 kids! I think we need the extra room! And the 4 levels of decks, and huge fishing pear look awesome. The house is 16 miles from base, a 20 min drive. I can't seam to talk the wife into hauling the quads 10 hrs. Maybe we can rent a boat for a day or something. Were staying till Sunday and the son is set to graduate on Friday.

M_Quick,
Congratulations (almost) on being parents of a Marine. It is so comforting to see families with Military sons and daughters. Thank you, in advance, for your service. Not only are the children in the service but the families are as well.
Best wishes,
Sid

Thanks guy's! And yes the wife and I are very proud. This is really taking a toll on the wife thou, she is a emotional mess. And yea house looks great! We seen nicer Ocean side homes with built in pools, but they were like twice the money with all the fee's.

AWW sorry he went that way. quicker promotions and less brain washing in the Army (27 yrs so far). Congrats anyway he's soon to be a 1%er (1% of Americians protect the other 99%). try going to the base's MWR moral, welfare, and recreation office they have loads of stuff you can rent. I'm not sure on their policy if your family of a service member, if you are a retiree np.

Congrats man. Trust me, regardless of what he does, it will take a toll on your wife. When I was in the service, I went a few stretches with out talking to anyone back home. Once when I was an IA in the middle east, it went for almost 13 months, and the other on a sub for 4 months. Fortunately for almost everyone that does get deployed on the ground over seas, they have a huge array of things to communicate back and forth. I hope you both are very proud, as that is the hardest boot camp anyone can go thru.

Thanks for all the support guy's. And my Son has made us all so proud already. Awhile back when he was considering ROTC he decided if he was going into the service he was going to be a Marine!

My son in law just got out of the Marines a year ago, even when he was in Afghanistan he got to skype with my daughter quite a bit. so make sure you have a good computer and internet connection. when she was having an ultra sound done they skyped so he could see.. communication is so easy now, they would even chat on facebook
