TRX700XX on the dunes

Hey all, I finally got to take out my 2008 700XX on the Oregon sand dunes (Winchester Bay) the other day. Before I get to the good part, I just wanted to mention that everyone I have talked to (not on this forum) has been giving me a bad time about the 700XX in the sand. For some reason people think the rear IRS will not work in the dunes.

Well, I took my rear knobbies off and put on a set of 22x11x10 Skat Trak 10 paddle haulers. My bike is stock, so I removed the air lid and noise damper insert in the muffler. Low and behold, contrary to popular belief... my 700xx did awesome in the sand! It was one of the best dune riding experiences I ever had on an ATV.

I went with my buddy, who was also one who thought the 700XX would not work in the sand. He was riding an 05 TRX450R that is bored over to 550, has a 6 inch swing arm extension and aftermarket everything. We rode for 5 hours and he took me through every trail, hill climb, you name it at every speed. My 700XX never missed a beat, and I kept up with him through everything. After we got done riding, he said he was really impressed that I could go anywhere he could go.

Yup, its certified now... 700XX's are awesome in every terrain. Just thought I would share my awesome experience with you all.

Yeah people who don't know any better always run their mouths off. Till they see what is what then they don't say too much after. I run my xx with anything from side by sides to utility quads and I go anywhere they go after I put mud tires on. And sometimes I go farther than a 4x4 cuz I'm so much lighter.

Lots of 700xx stereotypes lol. Switch the stock swaybar to a 11/16 and you will feel even more stable when side hilling a dune. Only places that a xx is limited is at a MX track or a drag strip ( against drag bikes) and I'd say less than 10% of riders actually do either of those things. Seems most atv racing these days is either gncc or other long distance events anyway. 450r's are sweet though. If it's got Red wings, it's alright by me

Seems to be a common experience at the dunes. Those who have a 700xx love them in the sand. Those who don't have a 700xx seem to have a thousand opinions and excuses why they couldn't possibly be good sand quads...even though they've never actually ridden one.

I'll say that they are definitely nicer on the old back than a solid axle quad...and I hope to have one in my garage soon.
