info for people getting a brand new trx700xx

hello i have been looking around and would love a what to do and check before you first ride your new 700xx. things all in one place so easy to get the info.

running in how should i do this ?
reading things about fuel selector switch installed incorrect way (i have no idea what this is)
how to install both types of kill switch. open and closed types
and any info you think a new member might or should know.
and what mods to do that are easy and low in cost like changing front sprocket and removing reverse rev wire. as think doing the simple mods will make the trx even better than what im hopping it to be.

For low cost performance I would definitely do the 13t sprocket, You get a lot more pick up over the stock 14t. Tires are a nice upgrade too, if you can only afford fronts or rears then I would get the fronts first to help with front end push. I haven't gone big 3 but I hear its epic!

OK... good subject.
13t front sprocket... while your 700xx is stock (before the big 3)
They are cheap and easy to change. This simple mod will give you better low end torque. You might want to go back to the 14t after the big 3.

Protection... for both you and the quad. Better bumper and good skid plate and to protect you, nerf bars.

Things to consider as money is available... steering damper and better tires.

For now... don't worry about things like reverse rev limiter or a kill switch... for now. Besides you already have a kill switch... just not a tethered one... required for racing.

Fuel selector knob is under your tank on the left side and is for shutting off the fuel and to change to "on" or "reserve". Some have been installed incorrectly by the dealer. Knob pointing down (6 o'clock) should be "on" and should stop at full down. Knob pointing back (3 o'clock) should be "off" and knob pointing up (12 o'clock) should be "reserve" and should also have a stop in this position.

be sure and check your wheels, my 700 and my best freinds, and my brother in laws all had washers behind the front rims on 2 of the studs on each wheel, gave a hell of a wiggle.. As far as mods go, the 700xx is a powerhouse right out of the box, but the 13 tooth front sprocket is a great upgrade for trail riding.
