I'm New(er) to ATV'ing

hey guys newer to ATVing, maybe only 20 hours or so lifetime total on one, only ridden utility style quads w/ 4 wheel drive, as that is what everyone in my family has. however i think the sporty models look like a lot more fun, and it looks like you can get a 08 TRX700XX for around ~4k OTD right now I was wondering if you guys think its a huge mistake for a noobie? also correct me if I'm wrong but getting it for ~4k should leave me with decent resale value in a couple years if I don't roll it or anything right? oh also I should add I'm going to be running it with a lot of utility quads, so doing a lot of trails, not so much in the dunes, IRS sounds appealing for that use

Thanks in Advance! - Great forum you have here!

No, I think the big thing is to do everything with moderation and know your limits. This is a really well-rounded machine in my opnion.

I have run with utility quads before with no problems. The xx goes anywhere and does it with comfort. I do have more experience with atv's but I think this bike is a great choice for you. You don't have to romp on it all the time. As long as you take your time and get to know the xx I think that you will be fine with it. It does have a lot of power when needed but but you can also put around with it. My suggestion is to go to the dealership and take it for a spin. Than you will see for yourself. Good luck.

I agree with Scuzz. That is one hell of a deal to pass up as well for one hell of a machine. I would definitely recommend staying away from any uphill climbs until you get used to using the clutch. If you aren't use to a clutch and drop it while going uphill you could be rolling head over heals back down. Al it will take for you is getting a feel for the quad and you'll be just fine. If you have never driven a cluth dropping down to a 13T sprocket would really help you out as well.

The 700xx is my first quad and I have no regrets! Its a learning process and this quad makes it easy for you...it has enough power, is easy on the body and has the best ground clearance...its an awesome machine! You will get your money's worth for sure! I do trail riding and 13t helped a lot. As for the others you ride with, it plays well with utility and other sport quads

I've ridden friends quads for ages but, this 700xx is the first one i've ever owned. Thankfully I have great friends who don't encourage me to go past my technical limits and got me used to the bike before going crazy. Now that I'm used to the bike it's an animal. It's a great bike because it can cover all aspects from novice to pro.

It is very hard to go without searching the internet for more mods and accessories.
