700xx hard first start up

Just got a 2008 trx700xx on trade I’ve never had one before. So the guy says he thinks it needs a stator. Says it’s not getting enough juice for the first initial start up. I hear no valve chatter while it runs either as I thought maybe they needed adjusted since it seems to not start cold. It will start perfectly off of a jump but will usually kill the battery trying to start without cables but once it’s started it runs perfectly fine and starts back up while your riding it for the day. Just looking for any input before I start buying parts. Any help is appreciated.

Check your battery voltage first. It needs to be 12.5 or higher without the engine running. Then check it with the engine running. It should be something like 14.4 volts. If that checks out I would forget about the stator its working fine I would then check for fuel issues. Honda did an update on the fuel filter because they were clogging and not supplying enough fuel. There is a post with that information call flameout.

Had the same problem and that was because of a weak starter.

Weak starter usually caused by low voltage. I would start checking first the battery.
