Polaris predator 500 smoke when throttled

I know this has nothing todo with a trx700xx just wa hoping someone might have any ideas about this problem a good friend is having with his quad before we take it into a shop not many good ones around here.

2003 Polaris predator 500 he recently purchased it ran good for a month a friend talked him into putting some carb cleaner in the fuel after this now when he pushes the throttle in it puffs some smoke it doesn't keep blowing just each time he pushes in throttle

the smoke is not black and doesn't smell like burning oil
it's not white or smell like radiator fluid but he did change it to blue ice

I was thinking maybe could be his carb needs some work?

Any helpful ideas thoughts or comments greatly appreciated
thanks

I would drain the tank put fresh fuel in it and go from there.
