Another 700xx in dirtwheels

Only this time they are doing a report on one that built up.

http://dirtwheelsmag.com/ME2/dirmod....90E918DAD11EE6

It is actually a pretty interesting read.

2008 700xx; Power Bomb header with power core 4 exhaust, Power Programmer III, pro armor nerfs, prm products control front and rear bumpers and full skid, 10" ITP rears, ITP Baja's fronts, RZR 2's all the way around, Uni filter, 13t sprocket, CCP steering Damper, DS450 shock swap, Dual Gasser Throttle, bar risers and Moose barkBusters. 730XX kit plus other engine mods!

that first paragraph is confusing...

"It’s comfortable and capable of going almost anywhere. However, it doesn’t do anything great."

wtf is that?... and Matlock, from what I know, didn't have Honda's support this year. He said even if he wasn't with Honda, the XX would be his weapon of choice...

so the XX doesn't do anything great, then they go and say it's a great quad...
and dominated the alta vista events' race?... the winner of the last race was on a rappy...
what a tool of an author!...

I think what they were trying to say is that the xx doesn't excel in any particular area but is overall great machine.

It's like my BMW R1200GS. It isn't great at anything, but does everything well. Typical advertising funded magazine drivel. They don't want to slam it and don't want to rate it better than anything else...trying to placate everyone.

Read a magazine like UK BIKE mag. They tell it like it is...they're so big they don't care who they piss off. They still get the job done with journalistic integrity.

Does seem like a pretty crappy write up. According to them, basically the quad is OK with some problems, but majically everything they pick to put on it works perfectly and solves all the problems. (Damn they're good) Little detail on fit issues, or performance of the $50,000,000 worth of upgrades they did. Very superficial. Makes me think that machine is sitting in the writers garage now...fringe benefit...

If anyone is wondering...I do love to soak in my negativity like its a hot tub...ummm, ahh, soooo good...

FMF factory 4.1 & Powerbomb

Moose bumper
Uni Filter
Custom sway bar mod

This is a free country and I have the permits, licenses, stamps, tags, stickers, background checks and tax receipts to prove it!

I look at this on the bright side. It shows that the writer isn't really biased towards the machine, just has a thing for certain aftermarket companies. To me, this is just something that shows to the world that the machine is rideable stock, but then proves that it is a powerhouse when upgraded. I'd say they put quite a bit of money into it, but in all sense, you'd have to just to race it like they pretended to. As for what they said about Matlock, who knows. I'm not too worried about it, but why would someone that is a reigning champion change what they ride unless they lose? Anywho, I'm down for doing Baja next year, anyone in? haha.

So basically take your XX and put $20,000 dollars in aftermarket stuff on it and it'll be pretty good! lmao
