I'm genuinely curious, whats the advantage to having a three-wheeler over a dirt bike or quad?

A dirt bike can lean to turn (probably is lighter) and a quad has two front wheels for more stability. Everything I've seen and heard about 3-wheelers looks like that are really (really) easy to roll

I'm not saying that isn't cool, just wondering

Never been on one? You gotta try it at least once, a hi-perf one. They are somewhere in between. Yes, they are lighter than a quad. Generally speaking, 2wd versus 2wd, the three wheeler will go better in the mud, sand, and snow because of this. Turning under hard throttle...........not pretty unless you can get the rear end loooose. Hang on when it hooks half way through!

As far as tipping, they aren't death traps. It is just like anything else you have to learn what you have got before you push it. Lots more rider input on turns, a quick clutch hand on hills, and more paying attention to traction differences on the rear. The hi-perf ones are much safer than a balloon tired unsuspended one. You would be amazed at how smooth a set of whoops can be on a good ATC, the front end is really easy to carry.

The benefits of 4 wheels far outweighs the few things that 3 does better, IMO. It is more nostalgia than performance. For those of us that learned to ride on them.

Love to throw my leg over one of the 450s above and see how far the handling has come.

Take a look here- http://www.3wheelerworld.com/
