Heading to the track tomorrow....

Just bought my XX a few months ago. Haven't had much chance to ride it sept on our dirt road here. Heading to the track tomorrow to have some fun. Can't wait! Any tips on not killing myself first day out? Have tons of trail experience, but limited on tracks.

MadMav,
As with the trail riding, keep the wheels pointing down at all times.

If you are going to hit any jumps, try to preload....like a bunny hop on a bicycle, keep throttle going as go off a jump as the throttle/wheel speed, will direct the pitch/angle of your machine, so if the front is staying up, let off the gas and tap the back brakes. I'd stay away from doubles and triples, especially with this beast, but try table tops! Try to ride the outside of the burms as well, while leaning far into the corner on this machine, and you'll be able to keep up a good pace through out it. Also, I imagine this is just for fun, so don't push it and wear yourself out after just a few laps. That way you can get in the groove of things and really increase your lap times vs. being tired and slowing down/making a mistake or just taking a break.

Great advise crwh45! That's what I was looking for. I'm not looking to make a career out of this, just something I've always wanted to try. It's finally warm enough, and it's close to the house. Thanks all,

Mav

MAV, take crash's advice as well. When you come up to some of those jumps, they look easy, but they can be nasty. This isn't really a MX quad, but good luck with it. I've raced MX a lot w/ SRA's and DBs, and only been on a track a few times w/ the beast. Also, if you don't have a set of nerfs, I would invest in some immediately. They save your feet from going off the pegs, and prevent other peoples front wheels from hitting you.

Thanks guys. We spent about three hours at the track. Man am I sore! I'm seriously out of shape. You can tell this heavy pig isn't built for the track. Good thing I ride trails 90% of the time. I didn't get my nerfs put on, but I didn't have a problem. They will go on now as they came in the mail last night. The torque on this quad is insane! With the 13t sprocket on, I can tell she is set up nice for the trails. After some practice, I got to jumping it over the big singles. I think that's about all she can handle. Kinda scary up in the air that high. The suspension handled the hard landings just fine, and it's even nicely cushy. It was a good time had by friends, might do it again and get video next time. Plan on getting a nice camera for fun soon. Thanks for the advice all. Next up, the dunes!
