Need some advice please

Hello everyone! Im a newbie and have a question for all of you diehard 700xx fans. I am currently looking to get another sport quad and am trying to decide which way to go. I am really digging these 700xx's, but am not sure that I will like it or not sice I have never been on one. I used to race a modded out 400ex and loved it (after all the goodies were on it) and have a old 4x4 that I've been farting around on since. So my question is would the 700xx be a good choice for me that just want to trail ride in the woods, fire roads, train tracks, etc? Or should I go back to the 450's? A buddy of mine is trying to get me to buy a Raptor, are the Hondas better? Sorry for the general question but I am just trying to see how this machine compares to the others. How much power do these things make and how fast can they go? Are they good jumpers? can you wheelie them all day long like the 400ex? Thanks for the help. Love this forum, except I am loosing too much sleep reading all the info on these machines!!

The engine is bulletproof like the 400. The SRA that you are used to is completely differen tthan this. With good suspension or sway bar, these perform awesome. No problem whatsoever with the riding you do, plus you'd beat the raptors in anything you race, except for moto. But with the right rider, you probably could. Only downfall is getting used to the IRS, and they are heavy. But unlike the other machines, these will go just about anywhere and over just about anything due to the ground clearance. If I was looking for another quad to simply ride and have fun, I'd buy another one. I have raced mine in GNCC type hair scrambles as well, and finished in the top 5 of summer series in every race I entered and in the winter series I took 2nd overall with missing 4 races the one year I used it. The turning isnt as tight as SRA, but you can learn to ride it differently and you can turn just as good. There are videos on here of stock raptor vs stock xx, and the xx wins in the drags. Plus, simple fact as it's a HONDA puts you ahead of anyone else

No offense, but no it does not, and mod for mod the raptor will put out considerbly more power....both are great quads, if your buddy has a raptor, ride it, then ride an XX and get which ever bike you like best.

I would personally recommend the 700xx, that is as long as you are willing to get used to the way the IRS rides. The biggest reason is that if the trails you ride in Western PA are like the ones I generally ride on (I am also in W. PA) the smoother ride and ground clearance of the IRS will help tremendously. You should definitely try to get a test ride on both if possible just to see which you like better.

I agree test them first. I had a 400ex til it was stolen. The xx rides more like a dirt bike, it is heavier but has the power around 50hp at the wheels I think, I'm sure someone else has the #s. It wheelies well, in the corners you will need alittle faness to get it to trun like the 400. I have come out of corners on one wheel with the hammer down. Lastly you cant beat the ability to keep both rear wheel on the ground in the woods. Red is better than Blue! :-)

Its amazing how far a KFX 90 will fly if you go fast. 15' is her current record.

No offense taken rappy, I was going off my personal experience stock for stock, with both riders riding both quads 3 runs in a row.

from what kind of riding you described i think the 700xx is a better choice, the raptor is a good quad also for dunes, motocross. on serious trails you got to be careful not to drag the rear sprocket and rotor,i think the raptor is 4 inchs ground clearance and the 700xx has 10 inches of gc. if you could just test ride each for a few hrs would be awesome but that will prolly be hard to do

Thanks for all the good feedback. I did like the raptor but I like to be different as well so I am going to look around and see if I can find an xx to try out. They definitely sound up my alley!

i have owned both the raptor 700 and now the xx all i can say is they are different animals, the raptor has more sporty feel but it is not as fast i have raced different stock raptor 700s mulitple times and they beat me off the line but my 5th gear is longer, i think the xx would be amazing for you with some simple mods, the sway bar(for sliding) other than that its bullet proof

Power stock is around 39 hp. How fast, around 80 mph. Jumps great in mid 3rd gear, in low to mid 4th gear you damn near need a pilot licence to jump these bad boys! Personally I can't wheelie for shit, but the quad will do it all day long, Google the videos on you tube. Here's one there's plenty more.

And if your looking for a nice used Trx700, check the for sale section here.

Here's one sounds sweet for only $3600.00 I'm not sure why it's still for sale someone should of snatched this long ago.
