ICE Racing Championship

Went to the championship race Saturday night in Evansville, IN. I had never been and it was awesome. They had an amateur class, they were limited to 100 studs provided by the promoter. Us that went have been discussing what would be the best way to put the studs. But we know nothing of ice racing, lol.

Couple questions for the ice racers out there:
On a ccw oval track, how would you place the studs given only 100?
If you ice raced a 700xx with aftermarket suspension, how would you set it up? Tighter inside or tighter outside or leave both sides equal?

Thanks!

I lived on a lake that did ice racing evey weekend. I partaked once on a dirtbike, but wasn't any good with hardly any studs LOL. I noticed a lot of guys would put 2/3rds of them in their rear tires, more so on the outside one, and then 3/4's of the rest in the outside front, and few in the tire in front on the inside. IDK if that was the best way or not, I was just observing. I'll stick to ice racing in the woods and stuff, where I know if I screw up I'll hit a tree, and when I race like that, I put about 2500 studs in the tires LOL. Plus I group them close together so they don't rip out easily.

I didn't realize Evansville did anything fun. I've been there tons of times with my last job, just seemed pretty isolated. Plus having one of the smallest airports LOL.

2008 700xx; Power Bomb header with power core 4 exhaust, Power Programmer III, pro armor nerfs, prm products control front and rear bumpers and full skid, 10" ITP rears, ITP Baja's fronts, RZR 2's all the way around, Uni filter, 13t sprocket, CCP steering Damper, DS450 shock swap, Dual Gasser Throttle, bar risers and Moose barkBusters. 730XX kit plus other engine mods!

I love to fly out of EVV, just walk right out on the tarmac and load up.

Only 100 is retarded. I ice race a 3 wheeler and have about 800 studs in it between 3 tires.

With only 100 I don't c there being any better way then another. There just isn't enough to make a difference. But in the front just do a dead center row.

As for the suspension set up. I would drop it as low as possible and then crank up the compression so the shocks r as stuff as possible.

Watching the amateur class it was pretty obvious that they only gave out 100 to limit speed. Slipping all over, it was fun to watch but had to be frustrating for those guys.

Any opinion on the rear tire stud set up?
