First Time on the Clutch

Last night was my 5th grade son's first lesson at driving a manual clutch. He did pretty good, killed it multiple times but nothing too exciting. At 80lbs I was impressed he could kick start the 200X, but it does start easy.

I was in around 5th grade the first time I got on a manual clutch, it was a XR200 and after killing it a couple times I wheelied it up and took a chunk out of my buddy's parents front porch steps.

Anybody else got any "first time on the clutch" stories?

last sept I taught my son (11) to drive my 700. same thing, a couple of kills and he had the hang of it. he liked it so much he rode it more than his 90cc atv. I am still working on getting him to kick start his dr125, not quite the speed to get it going. he is pretty good on two wheels and loves the jumps.

Its amazing how far a KFX 90 will fly if you go fast. 15' is her current record.

When I was in the Navy, I had a buddy want to try. So I stuck him on a cr125, he picked it right up on the 3rd time. I was like sweet. Next time after he stopped it, he dumped it, had some whiskey throttle, and buried it into a storage unit door, which is where I was storing it. Bent the hell out of the door and the front wheel and rotor, funnier than hell. I had a cr500 with a rekluse in it. I shut it off and one of my buddies got in it. He held the clutch in and started it, and not realizing it was in gear, he dumped the clutch while revving it. Looked like the bike shouldve been in the X games, as it shot out from under him and went right up in the air as it was spinning backwards, and pulled him like a rag doll. Beer may have been involved in that one LOL.
