MX ability

Okay so here's the deal, I am strongly considering buying an xx after tossing around this and the 450r. Obviously the 700xx would not be the best on an Mx track but when it has too would it get the job done(primary uses would be desert and xc)? I have a ltr for mx and let's just say it's not the most reliable. So if my zuk broke down 48 hours before a race do you think I could still be fairly competative in my class? Thanks.

ryan h,
If "your zuk broke down" would you have a choice? I think it depends on how much you want to participate. That XX has its own personality and really likes to show what it is capable of. If that sounds weird, I guess it is but if you never try, you will never have the satisfaction of knowing.
Good Luck,
Sid

no, i wouldnt have a choice. That is why i am asking if it is any good. I would prefer xx over 450r for desert but if it a compete dud on the mx track, then i will go S/A. thank you though!

If you toss some money at the 700xx it will out perform your ltr imo. So if you go this route, I'd plan on adding at least the upper arms from http://www.teixeiratech.com/ And the sway bar from http://www.l8tonracing.com/

Just those 2 mods alone should keep you in the running when your other quad is down. Also you will want to consider the Big3 for sure, a cam, shocks and the list goes on and on...But no the factory 700xx is not a MX quad imo.

A 700xx could do in a pinch. BUT, it will never really be able to compete with 450 SRA quads on the MX track... You could throw lots of money at it with mods in certain areas, but it still wouldn't be competitive. Keep the 700xx a XC/Desert/Trail machine. If you wanna throw money at it, do it in areas that will make it better in the areas it's good at.

M quick - it is a fully built quad

Roadkill - yea I don't plan on riding it on Mx only in a pinch. It's so smooth in the desert I don't think I could ride anything else. Haha
But I would start racing sorra with the xx instead of the zuk and as you know some of the courses have quite a bit of Mx mixed in.... Do you think it would do okay? I think there's someone else other than you with an xx

Thank you guys!

I've put the 700xx on a mx track (trying to build a mx version as we speak) ,The dam thing loves it . It's an absolute blast. It needs a few basic mods to be fun but it all depends on the rider more than the quad.

Oh looks like it would be no problem in a pinch! Thanks, that sealed the deal for me. Looks like I'll be an xx owner

For the SORRA races, it should do just fine. Yup, the next SORRA race at Honey Lake has a good portion of a lap on the MX track. I know of 2 others on 700xx... Brian #113 (he got a 3rd at the last Honey Lake race) and Tabitha... she rolled at Wilseyville and didn't know about our "bank angle sensor" or how to reset it.

Will you be at Honey Lake in September?
