Does anyone barrel race the 700xx???

I see a lot of posts about mx racing on here but nothing about barrel racing. I was wondering if anyone out there has suggestions on different setups for barrel races. Especially how to make the corner easier. I have done some experimenting and tried to ratchet strap the front end down once but found that the handling was terrible. If anyone can provide any help at all it would be appreciated!!!!! Thanks!!!!

Welcome to the club!

Barrel racing is for horse's, and usually a girl rider. I'd go with a Morgan, but most like quarter horses. If they do this with quads out west, please share some info and maybe a video clip!

Yeah some people call it a horseshoe race and others barrel race. We have a lot of them around south western Iowa. I have only tried it once but would like to do it some more. The 700 has plenty of power but just needs to be able to turn. I am getting the sway bar because I have seen so many great reviews on it on the forum. Everyone says that will let it slide like an SRA. I can't remember where I saw it but I have heard of someone running a set of front tires on the back to help slide.

After watching your video I realized that its not quite like what we do. Ours is more just a straight down and back around 1 barrel.

That 1st video link looks just like horse barrel racing. 3 barrels. I dont know about a skinny rear to slide easy. I'd say pump up the air a couple lbs. Lower the ride height as much as you can with preload. Smaller tires like 20" rears maybe 21 front,.and get the 11/16's bar!

WOW!!!!!! that makes a huge difference. Now I really can't wait for my sway bar to get here. That looks like it would work perfectly for this. Just wish it would be here by Thursday.

I have done a few barrel races with my XX. When I do I run a set of 20" Hoosier tri traks. I don't change front tires because I like how Razor fronts turn. My quad has been lowered 4 inches all the way around Which widens it a little at the same time. With the 10" rear wheels and the Hoosier's it is 52" wide. I also have a Dura-Blue rear sway bar along with the factory sway-bar. I have been thinking about getting the 11/16 l8ton and moving my Dura-Blue to the front, But Haven't had the $ yet. I have rode with the L8ton and it is stronger and does a better job than the Dura-Blue. And I think the combination of the two would be awesome.
BTW yes the 700 is awesome at barrel racing

Ok I have a few questions Quadmonkey. Is there a lowering kit available or did you make something? Also did you move your stock bar to the front? How does it mount, Is there a place for it or do you have to make a place to mount it? I am going to run my Razor fronts as well that I kept off of my 400ex.

Putting front tyres on the rear would make it grip more, not less so even less chance of sliding the rear out..
If you were to put wider tyres on the rear then the back would break free easier.
