Simple questions

So what oil, what coolant, what plug does everyone recommend.
Do HIDs work in the factory headlights or are they too much drain on the electrical system?

Tires

I am looking at getting new tires and I really liked Razr 2s on my Raptor. Does everyone like them on this quad? Does anyone go +2 inches on their tires?

Thanks for the info,

Champ3836,
Welcome to this great forum.
You are a real trooper. Yes you definitely have your hands full. Was it a running machine before you started on the restoration? Using all the liquids called for in the Owner's Manual (if available) will get you started. The Service Manual that M_Quick recommended is the best guide for everything 700XX. The schematics are excellent and the details on all the equipment under the plastics will help you, not only, understand the bike but make good repairs. As was mentioned, clean everything, drain all fluids and replace with recommended products. Be extremely careful when draining the oil. It is drained in two places; one is from the oil tank the other is behind the gear shift. It takes about two quarts of oil filled through the main oil tank (The machine has a wet clutch that is lubricated by the engine oil so be careful about synthetic oils that could cause slippage of the clutch). I use the Honda GN4 10:40 oil/oil filter and Honda premixed antifreeze. Make sure you follow the instructions on the installation of the Honda oil filter.
Others use different products with fine results.

The machine was running really well but just was not kept clean. I have finished gutting it and it really needed some TLC. I had to clean and lube chain, bend a front tie rod straight, clean the UNI air filter, change the grips to heated with thumb warmer, add HIDs, put new Razr 2 +1 inch in the front, change the oil, new plug and give it a huge wash. I still need to polish the Big Gun exhaust and probably need to paint the pipe because it's rusted. The motor casing is going to be getting scrubbed with CLR to get the dirt out. I will probably paint the a arms too. Gonna take her out on the lake tomorrow. I'm looking into Razr 1 +1s for the back as I guess that's about all I can find in a sport quad rear tire in 11s right?

Welcome to the forum.

As far as oil and filters go, I stick with Hondas HP4s synthetic oil and their oem filters. Any motor oil that meets the requirements will do though.

Seems like you have everything under control. Your going to really appreciate the IRS when you take it out into the powder. It's no snowmobile but compared to a traditional sport quad, it may feel like one lol.

Here's a pic from a snow fall we had this past November.

Enjoy the bike, it's a great machine.

Hey bud nice to see another fellow canadian. As far as tires you can put kenda kutters on the xx they make a stock size front and back. I have a set of rears and they are a really good tire. Hook up well and they are pretty rugged and durable. I also run maxxis zillas for when it's muddy and wet or snowy they hook up awesome in about anything.
