New to me 700

I just purchased a 2008 trx700xx. I got a great deal!! Very little use and came with an extened warranty. Just changed the oil last night and this morning adjusted the valves and gave the whole quad a good look over. The only thing I need to adress is the Parking brake (not working). Why did Honda not provide suspension grease zerks. All in all the quality of the build seem good. I still own and ride a Can-Am Outlander. I have been riding Can-Am since 2007, and love it. I purchased this quad for the Sand Dunes and faster trail riding.

I agree on the grease zerks. As far ass e-brake, I would take it off. It will only work a short while after adjusted and need readjusting.

I agree with traitor, you don't really need the parking brake anyways, just turn off the machine and put it in gear imo. Congrats on the purchase, welcome to the site.

The e-brake may be a poor design compared to the yamaha and others, but only takes like 2 mins to ajust if that. I will use mine till I replace the levers.

I must be terrible at adjusting it. I only get horrible drag with it disengaged or no nothing with it engaged, no happy medium.

When I adjusted mine I scewed the adjuster on the handlebars all the way in. Loosened nut on the caliper side and screwed in until I felt resistance when I tried to roll. Back off slightly(make sure your not dragging). Then while holding bolt tighten the jamnut. Try ebrake with handlebar lever, keep screwing adjuster until it starts working. Then doublecheck to see if its dragging. Then after your next long ride readjust. They never stay in adjustment, be it partly cable stretch, pads get worn down, etc... I wish they would put something in the line to hold pressure or a lever to lock rear brake after depesssing. There are better ways to get the same result, not cheaper but better. If those directions don't help, don't worry bout the ebrake. Remove it and save maybe 1lb.
