New owner in Atlanta

Picked up a like new 700xx last week. Definitely a different ride than my 400X! I basically trail ride and this is probably way more bike than I need but after riding it for 2 days I do not think I can go back to my 400.

I did manage to bed a rim and bust a CV boot on the 2nd day, separate incidents. Actually, I am not sure how the boot got busted. I suppose I will fix it myself but not looking forward to it. It is the inside left.

How often to CV boots rupture? Will skid plates prevent this?

Welcome to the club! Been riding mine for over 2 years and my boots are still A ok. Rims are pretty thin and it don't take much to bend them up. Not sure if any of mine aren't bent?

Welcome to the site and to the 700XX. You will find alot of help here, it is a great community.

I have only had my 700XX 4 months and destroyed 3 of my factory wheels. Many people have had problems with the factory wheels. I just got a set of OMF beadlocks to replace the very weak factory wheels. The tough part with wheels is the odd size Honda uses for the rear wheels. They are 11" wheels. Douglas and OMF are your only options for the 11" rear wheels. You can get 10" rear ITP wheels but they will make the rear end wider as the offset of the wheel is different to clear the suspension. If you are ok with the added width this will allow for much more tire options as well. I went with the factory size wheel because I plan on doing some harescrambles in the spring and narrow is better in the tight trails.

I have not had a problem with the CV boots so I cant help you there.
